    Soriano heating up

Slowly breaking out of his poor hitting. Since July 4th he is 16/39 (batting .410) at the plate. He was the one bright spot at the plate tonight.

If we can get Aramis going to a degree things could get interesting.

Eternal optimism grows when you are an ISU/Cubs fan.

    That's pretty optimistic.

He has to make up at least as much offense as his defense gives up.

Has he learned the art of catching a fly ball yet?

I think he is still under the idea that jumping helps catch the ball sooner.

Yeah that sweet catch (I mean error) tonight in the outfield totally makes up for his "awesome" play/hitting this year.

and incase you still need it . . . .

    Re: Soriano heating up

Good thing is he is starting to hit to right field....that means the sliders and curve balls that he is getting he is starting to learn how to hit them! I wouldnt throw a single fastball to him he will get himself out!

Apparently benching him on my fantasy team has finally gotten the message across. I'm a tough manager, but fair.

He went 3-4, all singles, and didn't drive in a run. I'm glad he's hitting again, but I wouldn't call that a bright spot when the Cubs got whacked.

3-4 when the rest of the team had 3 hits combined was the point. Was it amazing, no, but compared to his teammates it was

Well my main point was that he IS hitting again.

His defense always sucks and always will suck. We dont pay him the big bucks for his glove.

    Re: Soriano heating up

I'm not holding my breath about this mini-hot streak being the end to his slump until he keeps it going for awhile. I just hope Lou doesn't get any crazy ideas like moving him back to the leadoff spot.

I know, it totally had an impact on how the game unfolded, that one play was clearly the difference in a 9-run game.

    Re: Soriano heating up

If they don't start hitting with runners in scoring position it doesn't matter how good/bad their defense is.

    Yep.....unfortunately.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.
