    Clippers and Timberwolves make deal

The Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement in principle to trade guard Quentin Richardson to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Sebastian Telfair, Mark Madsen and Craig Smith, leagues sources said Monday.

Interesting deal for the Wolves id hope they goat a pick in the deal as 3 players for 1 who's not a superstar seems a little bit steep to me

Salary dump and roster dump. with all of the draft picks that they had, they had to make room for some of them to play.

How many teams has Richardson been on this offseason now? Isn't this like the 3rd trade he's been involved in now?

Re: Clippers and Timberwolves make deal

For the Wolves, this essentially saves them some money next season and clears up a potential logjam at the point guard position. New Wolves GM David Kahn is currently in Spain trying to negotiate a buyout for Ricky Rubio. If Kahn can get an agreement, he will have both Rubio and their other lottery pick, Jonny Flynn, as the team's point guards.
Richardson averaged 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds last season.

Re: Clippers and Timberwolves make deal

This makes 100% sense to me. The Clippers are giving $4 million in cap room for next year, and Q has an expiring contract.

The T-Wolves need a guy who can score from mid-range to open up the court for the post players they have. As far as what the T-Wolves gave up, they gave up a pg that sucks (the Wolves had the least efficiency from the PG spot, and Telfair is one of the least efficent players in the NBA), a forward giving them 6 minutes a game when he played, and a player with some upside, but nothing special.

I see this is only positive for MN. You give up 2 guys who didn't contribute at all, you save yourself $4 million, and you get a guy who can score 10ppg from outside.

That brings their score per game up to what? 70ppg?

The more I read the more I think that its a better move for the wolves. Another thing is that maybe at the trade deadline the wolves could move Richardson to a team and get a pick back. I just wish the Wolves could have gotten back the first round pick that they still owe the Clippers

but they traded away 40+ ppg, and got back about 37 pgs who can't score and 10ppg in Q. So I stand by my 70ppg.

So how many contracts do the Wolves still have that are set to expire after this coming season?

When I read about the trade, I assumed that the pick would be part of the deal. No such luck :(

I'm not really worried about the draft picks.

The Wolves will have their own pick (assuming they will be in the top 10 next year), Charlotte's pick, and Utah's pick (assuming it will be later than the 15th pick).

Even if somehow the Wolves aren't in the top 10 (but I can't see how they wouldn't be), they'd still get 2 first round picks.
