Which are you more excited for?

Just wondering what the general consensus is.

Football: New season, new coach, new system. Plus, it's Cyclone football. How don't you get excited?
Basketball: We actually have some hope and expectations for our team. With Craig coming back, hopefully Hilton Magic is restored.

Personally, I am more excited for Basketball. I would love for us to have the kind of run that Missouri had last year. And I think we are very capable.

Football, but not because I expect them to be better, I'm just more of a football fan than a basketball fan in general.

    equally excited for both.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Re: Which are you more excited for?

Hoops in a close one. Simply because it is such a critical year to get some results.

-State title should be a great possibility.
-Some very exciting non-conf opportunities in which we haven't seen for awhile.
-Conference record should be back near .500 which will make us feel somewhat relevant again w/in the B12
-Post-season play (Likely NIT but I will take it) will be great for the program and the fans

It is safe to say that if these attainable goals are not reached in '09-'10 that it is time for a change. I am excited to see how it plays out. My decision to purchase season tickets in the next 2-3 years will depend on the results shown this year.

Basketball. For football, I don't expect much out of this first season under PR. Sure. there are many upsides to a new coaching staff, but many downsides as well. The biggest issue will be players getting adjusted to a totally new system; new passing routes, new offensive schemes, new defensive schemes, etc. "No huddle" could do us well next year, but it will be a big adjustment this year. We were big-time mistake-prone last year, and this year will be even worse, IMO. The worst thing is that our easiest games are at the beginning of the season, when we will commit the most and worst mistakes. By time players are better-adjusted to all the changes later in the season, we are playing experienced teams that are not having to adjust to a new coaching staff themselves.

Re: Which are you more excited for?

Basketball, not by much. I love football and I am excited to see how the season turns out, but I have expectations for the basketball team that I think can be met. Never thought I'd be more excited for basketball...

I love basketball season but football season is something special. Tailgating, being outdoors, and the roar of 50,000+ is awesome!

Re: Which are you more excited for?

Definitely basketball. College basketball is by far my favorite college sport and since we will actually be decent this year I am just that more excited about it. I still love football and I am excited for it but just not as much as basketball.
