    Iowa's Ticket Allotment

So, I just got a mailing letting me know that since Iowa didn't sell their allotment to the Iowa/ISU game I can buy single game tickets to that game. WTF? They didn't sell their allotment? Seems odd, doesn't it?

    Re: Iowa's Ticket Allotment

According to this article, Football: ISU-Iowa Big Game tickets now part of 'mini-pack' | DesMoinesRegister.com | The Des Moines Register , Iowa returned 30% of their allotment to ISU.

"It's a different economy right now," Cyclone associate athletic director Steve Malchow said Friday.

It's so different that Iowa returned 1,200 from its allotment of 4,000 tickets for a game that attracted an announced crowd of 70,585 last season at Kinnick Stadium.

Those tickets, priced at $92 each, have been turned into one of the two $99 "mini-packs" Iowa State will sell starting Monday.

    Re: Iowa's Ticket Allotment

My letter goes as follows (I would have no reason to make this up):

    Dear Michael,

The University of Iowa recently notified us that they will not be using all of the single game tickets allocated to them for our football game on September 12th. As a result, we have decided to make the tickets the University of Iowa is returning to us available exclusively to Cyclone Club members and season ticket holders on a first come, first served basis (limit of four tickets per account holder).

If you have interest in ordering these $90 reserved single game tickets......

Anyway, the letter is another 3 paragraphs long and I figured the above is enough. If it matters (which I doubt), I am a Captains donor.

    Re: Iowa's Ticket Allotment

I'm guessing Hawk fans probably went with hillside or other ticket options. I'm sure there's a cheaper way than ponying up $92 for those seats...

Or am I wrong here? Is this another season ticket only thing?

Same letter here. I imagine the demand from the east is lower than usual. At least NCC members get first crack!

I hope donors do get first crack at them, if they are part of the minipaks, these go on sale Monday, and are first come first serve, it does not give donors much advance time.

    Oh well.

So does that mean that 1,200 fewer Hawk fans will be leaving the game early this year?

Why in the hell would anyone order Iowa tickets for 90 bucks apiece when they can get that same game for 33.00?

$90 is steep. Pollard maybe learning about the elasticity point here......Or maybe the sqaks are trying to 'learn 'em a lesson......'

Those same fans trying to teach Pollard a lesson are the same ones who drink 15 beers and then pay $200 bucks from a scalper the day of the game to get in.

Maybe the hawk fans are not going into the game this year, but instead are going to steal our hubcaps while we're in the stadium.
