    Buster Olney

I usually am a pretty big fan of Buster on ESPN, but when he gets something in his head, he just beats it to DEATH. I'm so tired of this dialog recently:
baseball tonight guys, "Buster, where will Halladay MOST LIKELY end up?"
Buster, "Well, there are a few teams in it, but what makes the most sense is the Phillies. That's who I think has the ability to get the job done."
Baseball tonight guys, "So Buster, are there any other teams that could make a play?"
Buster, "Well, I really think it's going to be the Phillies here. I mean, they've got Doug Drabek's son who could be the centerpiece of this deal."
Baseball tonight guys, "Buster, I heard the Cardinals, Red Sox, Yankees, and potentially the Cubs or Dodgers could make a play, what's the odds on those teams?"
Buster, "Well I think the he's going to the Phillies. I mean, they have Doug Drabek's son coming off of Tommy John surgery and he's pitching well."
    Cut to Commercial....

Why doesn't he just say, if it were me, I'd try trade him to Phillies, but I really have no dang clue where he's going to go... but I just put 300 on "Halladay to the Phillies" in Vegas.

    I'll end my rant now...

I stopped watching ESPN long ago. The half-brained, cliché-ridden "analysis" and superstar pandering became too much. MLB Network is a much better option for baseball coverage, if you can get it.

...because he thinks he will go to the Phillies, and that he has a clue? Did you expect him to change where he thought Halladay would go simply because he was asked multiple times? Perhaps he could have been more accommodating in his response.

Yeah, Olney drives me nuts. So does Kiper. I can't stand a lot of the ESPN guys.

That said, one of my favorite NFL guys though is actually John Clayton.

Baseball tonight used to be a pretty good show to watch back when Reynolds and Gammons did it almost every night. Then Reynolds got fired and Gammons got sick and it's gone way down since then. Eric Young, Estrada, and Chris Singleton have no business being on that show. I tolerate Kruk and Schowalter(sp?)

There are a few baseball guys at ESPN that I like. Keith Law is pretty good. I like Neyer too. Olney and Stark are ok but the constant beating the steroid drum has made me less of a fan for these two.

Gammons is good too, almost forgot about him.

    Re: Buster Olney

Gammons is the only MLB guy I have any deep respect for there. Others are okay, but not noticeably better than other networks or MLB outlets.

Out of the teams you listed, I would guess...the Phillies.

That and they put it in one of their worst time-slots - after the 10 PM SportsCenter. Heaven forbid they put it on ESPN2 and pre-empt poker! That poker is a ratings bonanza

Have I mentioned that I hate Mediacom?
