That is the second time they have written a story on James Smith's life and it keeps getting happier. Good for him and have a happy reunion.

    Jon....

how about an interview after James returns from Haiti? Great human interest story regardless of school. 99% of us have no clue what this guy has been through, he certainly has my respect and admiration. In spite of its problems, sports provided a path for James and he shined.

My wife just about cried after reading that story, I too hope for a camera down in the islands when he reunites with his Bio-mom. May God truely bless you James!
    ...I'm sure he already has.

one of my coworkers cried and wobbled over to make sure I saw it, very moving.

It's amazing the path through life he's had.

Re: DMR article on James Smith

    Such a strong person...what a great story.

This is a perfect example of a young man who refused accept the unfairness given to him early in life as a scapegoat to be angry at the world and a menace to society. Instead, he decided to befriend those who offered to help him, work hard in sports & school and move forward as a forgiving, driven and strong individual.

I wish nothing but the best for James and his family and am very happy for him.

Fantastic article. I hope James has a break out year and can do something on the next level either it be in football or whatever his career path is.

Re: DMR article on James Smith

The rag does a great article and then they don't even put it in the print section?!?! Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen this article on one of the 4 pages of the sports section.
