What is the Best Baseball City in America?

In light of the all-star game in St. Louis, many conversations have risen about what is the nations' 'Best Baseball City.' My personal opinion would say St. Louis but I'm curious to see what other fanbases or fans in general have to say.

I'd put Boston, Chicago, LA and NY above St. Louis. I like St. Louis, but it's kinda become a craphole in recent years. 3 of the cities I list have 2 teams each and both teams have passionate fans that show up night in, night out, and I think Boston goes without saying. JMO

This is going to be entirely subjective. And no, I wouldn't put the likes of Boston, Chicago, LA, NY, and the Bay Area over teams like St. Louis simply because those 9 teams can outspend just about every other team in baseball, which is what it really boils down to when fans say that these 5 cities are the best baseball cities in America.

Re: What is the Best Baseball City in America?

I'm not a baseball fan at all really, but it's hard to argue against Chicago. Two teams, each w/solid fan bases (one that is easily the top fan base in baseball) that represent very different regions of the city. What part of town you're from dictates who you cheer for, and I love that sort of thing. Like I said, I'm not much of a baseball fan, and if I care at all it's about the Twins, but after going to Wrigley, it's hard to not see the appeal of that environment.

My two favorite teams have always been the Twins and Cubs but I have to vote for St. Louis.

Re: What is the Best Baseball City in America?

St. Louis is definitely defined by it's baseball more than Chicago, but I think Chicago, due to the fact that it has two teams, which represent different parts of the city, edges it out.

So is Boston. It's a subjective poll, and everyone who isn't from _____ or spent a good deal of time in _______ is just going to vote for their favorite team.

Los Angeles does not belong on the list. Their fans are the very definition of front-runners, along with Red Sox fans who buy the alternate color road jersies, or pretty much every Red Sox fan since Game 7 in 2003.

Re: What is the Best Baseball City in America?

If you are talking baseball and not just major league baseball, then I would definately say none of those choices. The top 5 "Baseball" cities would probably be:
    1. Tampa-St. Pete-Sarasota
    2. Oakland - SF - San Jose
    3. Dallas - Ft. Worth
    4. Miami - Hialeah - Ft Lauderdale
    5. San Diego

You cant go five feet without seeing baseball played in SW Florida. There is one High School in Tampa that has something like 60 major league Alumni (Pinnela, LaRussa, McGriff, etc).
