Here's an article I did about Wesley Staten...he's a great kid, very easy to talk too, and a good interview.

Good stuff. I'm glad that Wesley has committed to ISU. He looks to be a stud in the coming years.

    Re: Wesley Staten article

I'm really excited for this guy. He's a top talent and its good to see that we've got him locked up for '12. That class looks like it could be a good as were are in on several high level talents. signing day 2012 is a long ways off but it's good to see were off to a good start.

If we could add Paige, Staten and a post stud, the 2012 class would be very good.

    Re: Wesley Staten article

Are we looking at Perry Ellis at all? I'd love to see Paige, Gessell or Ellis want to play with their friend at Iowa State. We need to make some noise this year, in a big way. We need to win an NCAA Tournament game, to get kids excited about Iowa State. Anything less is a HUGE disappointment, and set back. Especially since we'll lose our top two scorers after next year.

We're definitely interested in him. The question is, is he interested in us? Right now, he isn't.

No, completely different skill-set, to say the least.

This is what I heard about Jordan Dykstra as well.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Wesley's case is different though...Dykstra's whole game was predicated on having an advanced skill set for his age, whereas Wesley's is more on physical things, length, height, quickness, etc. Plus, Wes isn't from a small town, so you should like him.

I don't think JD was on ESPN's radar as a fr. Also, JD doesn't play the same type of talent. I think this is an apples to oranges deal.

    Re: Wesley Staten article

I would also add that posts development is tougher to predict as so much of depends on body and size. Wesley is guard and already has the frame a guard needs. He obviously needs to add weight but he is still young and shouldn't be an issue. If a guard his age has an advanced skill set over other guards his age, I think there is little risk here.

Another note: When Wes plays up with teh 17-U's with Ellis, he more than holds his own...at one point, I was told that at a tournament Ellis, Staten, and Paige were the there best players in the 17-U division.
