Really?? What a joke this guy is.

Disgraced pastor Haggard may move to Iowa

A Colorado pastor who made national news last year when he resigned as president of a national evangelical group because of allegations of homosexuality, is considering moving to Iowa, the Denver Post is reporting.

The newspaper published a story today that quoted one of four ministers who oversaw three weeks of intensive counseling for the Rev. Ted Haggard. He said the disgraced minister emerged convinced he is ''completely heterosexual.''

Haggard also said his sexual contact with men was limited to the former male prostitute who came forward with sexual allegations, the Rev. Tim Ralph of Larkspur told The Denver Post for a story in Tuesday's edition.

''He is completely heterosexual,'' Ralph said. ''That is something he discovered. It was the acting-out situations where things took place. It wasn't a constant thing.''

Ralph said the board spoke with people close to Haggard while investigating his claim that his only extramarital sexual contact happened with former prostitute Mike Jones, and they found no evidence to the contrary.

''If we're going to be proved wrong, somebody else is going to come forward, and that usually happens really quickly,'' he said. ''We're into this thing over 90 days and it hasn't happened.''

Haggard resigned as president of the National Association of Evangelicals last year after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. He was also forced out from the 14,000 New Life Church that he founded years ago in his basement after Jones alleged Haggard paid him for sex and sometimes used methamphetamine when they were together. Haggard, who is married, has publicly admitted to ''sexual immorality.''

Haggard said in an e-mail Sunday, his first communication in three months to church members, that he and his wife, Gayle, plan to pursue master's degrees in psychology. The e-mail said the family hasn't decided where to move but that they were considering Missouri and Iowa.

Another oversight board member, the Rev. Mike Ware of Westminster, said the group recommended the move out of town and the Haggards agreed.

''This is a good place for Ted,'' Ware said. ''It's hard to heal in Colorado Springs right now. It's like an open wound. He needs to get somewhere he can get the wound healed.''

It was also the oversight board that strongly urged Haggard to go into secular work.

''Nobody is saying he can't go back into ministry,'' Ralph said. ''Somewhere down the road, that could very well happen, and that would be wonderful.''

He's totally heterosexual...except for all those times he was having gay sex. That makes sense, I guess.

Northwest Iowa would welcome him and his god shinola.

I heard EIU is in the market for an on-site Pastor in the athletic department.

This is not news. This is just another example of "the church" trying to "fix" homosexualality. So he is gay, whatever, the fact that this is posted makes no sense. The guy has enough things to worry about without this board judging him too.

We should be discussing more important things...like a cyclone win over mizzou!

Come on man, people are just joking around saying he'd be a great fit in liberal Hawkeyeland. For that matter, I'm betting a lot of the Hawkeye fruits are in Psychology too. It'd be a match made in heaven!

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

Do you really think that he knows/cares if this message board is judging him?

I think Iowa City is the perfect place to start anew with his newfound "heterosexuality".

Re: Really?? What a joke this guy is.

I just thought it was funny it took a lot of people to sit down and talk to him and decide he was not homosexual. Look the last time I checked I was a straight male. I did not need my pastor and a psychologist to sit me down, interview me, then decide that I was a straight guy. Just thought it was funny.

Re: Really?? What a joke this guy is.

I dont think the board is really judging him. Just because we're discussing it and are finding humor in it doesn't mean we're judging him. I think comments about it are directed at the situation itself and not the guy. I think anyone would agree the scenario seems pretty ridiculous. At least at this point nobody is condemning him or anything like that. The whole article just made me laugh cause its so silly how he had to be told about his sexual orientation...And why not poke some fun around with the Hawkeyes?? I don't think God would have a problem with tossing some jabs at the Hawkeyes and Iowa City Area. Right?

Re: Really?? What a joke this guy is.

Seriously the story here is that this guy is going for his Masters in Psych. That is definately the guy I want trying to help me figure myself out. Why is it that so many people that can't figure themselves out go on to study psych then try to help everyone else with thier problems. Reminds me of the majority of drug councilors who have done more drugs for longer than the people they are trying to help. Funny society, fun to watch.

Just keep in mind that although you say "the church".. the Catholic Church isn't involved in this one. Besides, the issue is that he's married, a minister, and then he paid a prostitute.... gay or not, that's the main issue, although the whole "whether or not he's gay" thing is a bit strange.

Anyway, I agree... strange thing to bring up. oh well.

Someone should get this guy a few sheep.

They can't testify in court, they're fluffy and a pair of thigh-high boots & good velcro really do the trick.

At least that's the word on the street.....
