    Field of Dreams

    Watching it tonight.

I never get tired of that movie. The end still brings tears to my eyes.

A few years ago was able to have a picnic at the field and a lady who helped organize the local town with the actors told the story about filming. Wonderful stories and sounds like most of the actors were just great. They used to play baseball games every night and Kevin Costner actually is a pretty good player.

A wonderful movie and it's all about Iowa.

I'd give up anything I have right now to have 1 last catch with my Dad.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Great movie, and a great thing to be associated with Iowa.

    Re: Field of Dreams

What a great movie, I ended up watching the last 2/3 of the movie tonight. I have it on DVD and may just watch the whole thing again soon.

    Good line:

It's too bad how poorly the field has been maintained.

    Re: Field of Dreams

the problem with the field is there is two owners when they built it they built it on two peoples porperty so they fight for money and take away from the true meaning!

I watched it with my 10 year old son recently. You can bet that we took out our gloves and threw in the back yard that night.

Would have been a great movie if Costner wasn't there to ruin it.

    Re: Field of Dreams

The only thing I don't like is the incredible stereotypical portrayal of Iowans. The scene where the whole town is at the PTA meeting and they all want to ban that book isn't very flattering. Also, the scene where Costner is out in his field w/a hoe is kind of silly too. Don't think I've ever seen an actual farmer go out into a 100 acre field w/a hoe.

But otherwise, it's a pretty good flick.

    Re: Field of Dreams

I always get a horrible look when I say I hate that movie. I mean...it's ghosts playing baseball. Am I the only one that thinks this is a joke? I just don't get it. My wife and I were watching it last night and she bawled the whole time as I laughed. She proceeded to constantly inform me that I have no soul and a black heart.

Farmers do go out and walk their fields to take out some pesky weeds that get through. Probably moreso at the time of the movie. For the movies sake, they probably had to give him a hoe just because him standing out there with nothing would be confusing.

I walked beans as a kid, but it was usually a few of us, and just going after certain spots. The movie makes it look like he's trying to hoe the entire field by hand (at least thats how I saw it).
