    Coach PR siting

He was the featured speaker at the Ankeny alumni banquet last night and had everybody ready to run thru a wall for him, even a few hawkeye fans I know that were there. If Ankeny wasn't a Cyclone town before, I'd say it certainly is now. Mostly Ankeny stuff but I did talk to him and asked about Jake Knott. He was beaming about the kid and said he didn't want to red shirt him because he thinks he can help this year. Knott was also a good tight end in high school and I asked if he might end up there, and PR said no way he would let the offense touch him. He'll start out at lb and could end up a d-end if he gets much bigger. He loves being home and he loves ISU with a passion (plus he's a Dodger fan) so it just doesn't get any better as far as I'm concerned.

I'm glad to hear that about Jake Knott, I am hoping for big things from Jake McDonough too. It would be sweet to have 2 big Iowa boys tough on the d line for years to come.

    Re: Coach PR siting

one thing i always wondered is why Ankeny is so evenly split when it is only 15 miles from Ames. While they picked up Hulbert, Iowa also picked up Brodell, Schlicher, and Spitzig.

oh and about Knott, Jake played the "percy position" when he was in high school. He played slotback, so they threw to him, but they also sent him on reverses a lot. On defense, he was kind of a Taylor Mays type player. Kind of a LB/S hybrid. He was all conference as a LB jr. year, but all conference and all state as a DB sr. year. The ironic thing is that his HS had one of the smaller lines in the CIML, with most of the players being smaller than him. If your line averages around 210 pounds, its funny how your slotback/rover is 220 pounds, which is bigger than most guys in that position in college even.

Cedar Rapids has a lot of cyclones and huge following in the area and it's 15 min. away from IC.

I have heard the Ankeny coaches were pro-Iowa.

The kicking coach is, not sure about the others though. Ive heard time and time again how the Ray Finkle of Ankeny High goes outta his way to send the best ones to Iowa and to not even think of ISU. Laces out Dan!

I love that movie because they have the Miami Dolphins my favorite team and Dan Marino my favorit player. Coach Rameah is a good coach. Ankeny is the only high school in the country to have a kicking coach. FI play on the ankeny football team and he has tried to get me to kick better, but it is useless I STINK!!!

Wasn't he working with Guyer when Guyer was at Johnston?

Our defense is going to be terrible regardless. It's been putrid for 3 straight years. If he can help make it a little better, he might as well play.
