Wasn't that blurb just a re-wording of a Rag article today? just asking...

Probably, but its for the benefit of Big 12 fans in general who are interested in these type of stories but dont want to look for themselves.

Yeah, and Tim links that story. That's what the Big 12 lunch links column is. He just gets a bunch of news stories from around the Big 12 and links them in a concise format for quick reading over your lunch hour hence the title, big 12 lunch links.

Me either. Seems to be a genuine person. I hope he is good at prepping the team and a great game day coaching too.

    Re: Tim Griffin on Rhoads

For what he's done off the field, and this includes first recruiting class and (most importantly) the coaching staff he's put together, Rhoads gets about an A-. He's been jacking 'em out of the park since he got here. If he does as high quality, and intelligent of a job on the field as off, then we're going to see some great things down the road. At this stage though, that's still a HUGE "if".

Good points, now all he has to do is win.

Yep, I've always been, and always will be, a realistic optimist when it comes to ISU athletics. When chizik got hired, a lot of us were pessimistic about his assistant coach choices, but trusted his reputation. I hope to hell Auburn feels my pain. But, with Rhoads, his assistants are his strongest points thus far. The biggest key, if he has success, is keeping those assistants around. This is why Mac isn't around now, and why I think Mac would still be here if JP was around earlier in Mac's career. (Yep, just cracked a fresh can of worms with that one)

If you have talked to Rhoads you like his enthusiasm and sincerity. He certainly had that impact on me. I have had conversations with both Chezik and Rhoads and there is a dramatic difference. This is why Rhoads will be a capable in-state recruiter once prospects meet him.

Tim Floyd was the same way, you couldn’t help but like Tim even when he was telling you no.

Great analogy. I've met both Floyd and Rhoads and agree.

I agree to a point, but I don't think that all of the assistants are proven home runs. I think that the coordinators, strength coaches and Ash were flat out home runs. Everyone else are huge question marks IMO. I think that Bleil, Wells, Messingham, Pope, Bray and the younger Burnham have a lot to prove....and some are less proven than their counterparts on the Chizik staff. Good thing is that the assistants that ARE homeruns are the most important positions on the staff.

The more I think about that, the more I think you're right...
