Bears loss upsets homeless in chicago

I noticed last night, a lot of the homeless in chicago became a lot more aggressive after the loss.. got threatened twice in one night.. one of them that cornered me said they all wish the bears had won because people would be more generous and that now people are saying to stay away from them for fear of being robbed... he told me he doesn't want to have to rob anyone.. he just wants people to do the right thing.. lol.. so I felt I could spare a dollar since no one else around in the tunnel.. then another man high and drunk ran at me saying he wanted to give me another haircut, on my face.... said he had something to cut me with at his bench.. I decided to take off while he went to grab his clippers... don't know if this happened a lot last night and I know theyre not all like this, but it was a lot more aggressive than they usually are with me.. one of those nights where I really missed Iowa.

I'm sure they weren't looking forward to all the looting in the celebration melee

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

ironically, after the first threatened me into a donation, he said "god bless" and stared me down as I hurried out of there..

Homeless Man: You got a dollar?
Buffy Gilmore: Get away from me, you bum.
Cindy Campbell: Buffy, can't you see he's hungry? Here you go, sir, a nice sandwich.
Homeless Man: I said a DOLLAR, b:tch! (Throws sandwich)

Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

Bet those are far and few between. :)

I get what you mean though. Iowa has plenty of downfalls but atleast you don't gotta worry about getting robbed or shot.

Re: Bears loss upsets homeless in chicago

The City of Denver did a survey a couple of years ago regarding the panhandling in the area.

They estimated that people gave away an estimated $10 Million dollars a year to the panhandlers in this area. (Just what they reported, I am not arguing the validity of the number) Ever since that survery came out the homeless have become more aggressive here due to the lack of suckers, i mean revenue.

Not sure what he meant by "the right thing". Suppose he felt entitled to your money?

Maybe he was a bureaucrat undercover...........IRS maybe???

(Just glad you got away safely)

Re: Bears loss upsets homeless in chicago

Anybody ever have a bad experience with a homeless in Ames? At numerous occasions I have been alone in a lecture hall or in a room studying by myself in one of the buildings, when a homeless man has come in to see if there is any treasure in the trash cans. With exception to some excitement generated by finding a pop can. I can't say there has ever been much of a problem. It is a little bit unsettling to hear someone talking to themselves knowing you are the only other person in the room, though.

I have seen the "trash diver" man (or men) may times while I was at ISU. I never had a bad experience with them but you are right, it was a bit unsettling. Espcially when you are in the lab by yourself and this shady character is mumbling to themselves as they clank around the in trashheap.

there must be money in it though, becuse I saw them all the time.
