Wesley Johnson = Top 20 College Players

Interesting ... Wes considered a Top 20 College Player.

If CB doesn't play on the World University Games team would he have been invited?

BTW, as if the picture below wasn't difficult enough to look at - Wes looks bigger.

"Despite losing three of his top players, Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim has remained optimistic about next season, and Iowa State transfer Wesley Johnson is a big reason for that. Johnson, who had to sit out last year due to NCAA transfer rules, will be ready to suit up for the Orange for the 2009-10 season.
Coach Boeheim called Johnson 'the real deal' in an interview with ESPN's Andy Katz. And, Boeheim told The Sporting News that Johnson, combined with Arinze Onuaku and Rick Jackson, will make the Orange frontcourt "the best we've had here for many, many years."
Johnson, a 6-foot-7 forward, is participating in the LeBron James Skills Academy this week in Akron, Ohio. Nike invites the top 20 college and top 80 high school players from its four camps in late June to LeBron's camp. Jonny Flynn attended the camp last summer."

I hate knowing that he went here. And to think how much better we wouldve been if he was still here

I would still love it if ISU got a chance to knock them out of the tournament

Re: Wesley Johnson = Top 20 College Players

It's painful to think about, but he is darn-near a perfect fit defensively on the wing in Boeheim's 2-3. Defensively, he'll be an All-American right away. Offensively, I assume it will take some games to get his timing back. Syracuse lost more scoring than anyone thought they would, though, so there are points to be scored. If he stays healthy, I can see him being in the 20-40 range for next year's draft.

He definitely picked the right system if wanted to be considered even an average defender...IMO, he's a great offensive player, and rebounder. But defender?

Re: Wesley Johnson = Top 20 College Players

He is 100% dead to me. With the way he left, I hope he loses every game he plays in, whether that is with the Orangemen or in NBA. IMHO, he is a worse traitor than Haluska; at least Haluska had a bit of a reason to transfer with the coaching change and him being a long time hawkeye fan...

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

He's seriously a perfect fit for that defense. He's Hakim Warrick on the wing, add a little quickness, minus a little bounce. Just cause McD played him at the 2 and he couldn't guard 6'1" guys doesn't make him a poor defender.

If you're an All-American defender, you probably aren't playing in a zone. Man to Man is the most effective defense if you have the personnel to play it because it takes away all easy shots. In a zone, you can't cover the whole court without leaving a hole somewhere.

He might have length and bounce, but he has extremely poor lateral quickness. He's got a long ways to go to be a decent defender, even in a zone.

I doubt our current guys have strong negative feelings about WJ lol...
