    A comment about the commercials

I have been reading all the news stories reviewing the commericials and yeah they may have not been great but one comment made by someone said that he didn't understand how any of these companies got there money's worth by spending 2.6 million for 30 seconds.

When you think about it though they ARE getting there money's worth. Not just because it aired during the Super Bowl, but all of the talk that goes on the next day. You see the companies name pop up all over articles in the newspapers and the web so essentially they are all get "free" press. So no matter if the ad is bad they are all getting there moneys worth with everybody talking and writing about the commercials the next day.

Re: A comment about the commercials

I was wondering where this Salesgenie thing came from. These people sponsored part of the pre-game AND had commercials on during the game. They must have ponied up some big time coin.

Re: A comment about the commercials

I have always thought that advertising on the Super Bowl was "money well spent".

There is a huge audience (both sexes and it is world-wide). More importantly, it is the only program I ever watch (and I don't think I'm alone) where I never flip to another channel or skip the commercials. In fact, I am watching the commercial competition nearly as closely as I watch the football competition.

Having said that, I thought this year's crop of ads was the weakest in recent memory. My personal favorite was the Sierra Mist "Beard Comb-over" spot! I also thought the Go-Daddy "Marketing Department" spot and the Nationwide "Federline...the fries!" spot were OK.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Re: A comment about the commercials

I thought nearly all of the commercials were mediocre at best. The exceptions to me were the K-Fed Nationwide commecial, the Bud Light Commercials (especailly the RPS ad), and the beard comb-over.

It seemed strange to me that there were no Miller Lite adds during the game, or at least none that I saw.

Bud Light did a pretty good job. Rock Paper Siccors. "I threw paper" "Yeah, I threw Rock"

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

Maybe Miller decided to give up because their beer sucks so bad?

Re: A comment about the commercials

GoDaddy has never put a good commercial on TV. This year's was even worse than the last two. The problem as a company that they have is that other than the Super Bowl, no one cares about or hears about them.

I would say K-fed and the Rock paper scissors were the two best.

Re: A comment about the commercials

As a whole, the commercials were sub-par at best.

They let the 3 best ones out right away...with the rock, paper, scissors first the car crash Doritos next and then the animal Blockbuster one next.

I was laughing non-stop through those. The others? Notsomuch.

Some had their moments but could've been much better.

Not that I'm complaining - the game was more fun to watch than the commercials - that doesn't always happen. :)

What about Harry, Eileen, Joy, and Mr. Turkeyneck?

I probably laughed the loudest at the Snicker's commercial.

I second the Beard-over commercial. Jim Gaffigan and Michael Ian Black are both hilarious. We laughed at the Ford one where all of the guys were dancing on the truck to "Hot in Herre", too - that was the one written by students, right?

Re: A comment about the commercials

I think Pizza Hut got some good advertising in for the pre-game. Pizza with the NFL crew from CBS was nice product placement as hungry people at home might have been tempted to order a cheese bite pizza.

Go to YouTube and search for super bowl commercials. GoDaddy and Bud Light have 2 of the best commercials that were banned for this year.

And I see GoDaddy has some internet only ads: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=GoDaddyTV

The "Snickers Man-kiss" commercial? That actually made my skin crawl a little. I hope to not see it again!

Re: A comment about the commercials

    Ok....THESE are funny!

We'll allow violence and the like on TV. We even allow shows such as Two & a Half Men that are mostly based on sex and promiscuity (love the show btw). We'll even allow Prince to make a borderline shadow during the half-time show.

But we won't allow these commercials? Hypocritical, don't ya think?

We had this discussion yesterday and a friend made this point very well. It started when discussing some really good foreign commercials.
