    Old Bachelors

My defintion is a guy over 40 who has never married.

I have a brother who's in that boat as well as a few friends.

I'm just curious if people think it's a good or bad thing to be in that situation?

Personally I think being married and having a family is wonderful and it's taken the focus off "me" and "things" and generally been good for my health. However I've got friends who married not so nice spouses and live miserable.

    What do you think?

Whatever works for them. I don't think I could do the bachelor thing, too boring, if I was a bachelor I'd just sit around my house all day watching tv, eating pizza and playing video games......wait a minute.

Sometimes one does not choose mates wisely. Sometimes people change. Yet if one does not participate, one will never know. Many people never married in their late stages sometimes regret not making the move.

I think you're missing out if you haven't found someone that you want to spend your life with, as well as not having any children. Both of those factors help you realize (sometimes quite clearly) that the world does not revolve around you.

Haha, agreed. I'm not sure how long I could do it, but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot to find out. It is too late for me though. If someone wants to try it, let me know how it goes.

I thought it was after you spend an hour debating about Michael Jackson!

I think you are missing out if you are tied down and unable to see the world and experience adventure and not have a care in the world. But you have fun watching iCarly and talking like a 2 year old. To each his own.

    Re: Old Bachelors

Been married for 6 years to my HS Sweetie. 2 girls, 3.5 and 1, and she lets me out of the house whenever I want. I have no complaints. Not sure what I would be like without a family to come home to every night. Don't think it would be pretty.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

    Re: Old Bachelors

I think people should make their own decisions on it. IMO, I love being married and having a great marriage is one of the greatest blessings in life.

However I imagine having a bad marriage would be an absolute millstone around the neck.

Everybody has the chance to experience your first statement at some time in their life(I did).
