That was pretty sweet....didn't expect to hear a guy from Iowa State mentioned within the first minute of the super bowl...

The sad thing is that the only people that probably associate Ellis Hobbs with ISU at the mention of his name are on this site (and maybe a few Pats fans).

We need to have a FB program that gets more guys into the NFL.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Re: Ellis Hobbs Mention in superbowl

I am still a little p.o.ed at Hobbs. the Pats last monday night game in the 2006 season when the players say their name and college, he said his high school rather then giving the props to ISU. He is where he is due to his coaches at ISU not the Coach/P.E. teacher he had in high school. To me that shows no Respect to Coach Mac.

Re: Ellis Hobbs Mention in superbowl

This has been mentioned before. I think it's cool that Hobbs gives his high school props sometimes. Imaging how the high school feels...I would think it was pretty cool if I went there.

That being said, I hope he mentions Iowa State as well. Last year, he would say, "The up and coming, Iowa State University". I hope he alternates or something.

Earlier this season, someone had a picture of him that was taken during a post game interview. He was wearing an Iowa State shirt.

    *sigh*

Why must this automatically be a knock on ISU instead of a player that has a lot of respect for the high school he went to?

He's always been complimentary toward ISU and - did ya forget he's showed up in Ames for at least one football game since he's been with the Patriots?

Personally, I'm not a fan of shout-outs to high schools, but I guess I can't relate because I know I'm never going to hear anyone shout-out to Storm Lake High School...

It's also been said that those are taped once at the begining of the season for all teams, so they don't change them throughout the year...so that's why it was the same any time the Pats were on abc/espn

    Nice photo isu-bub!

We have a friend that recently moved here from Boston. He knows Ellis well and he's talked about ISU on a number of occasions - always in a good light. He even recommended this person go to some football games this fall.

I agree. He should iron every ISU shirt before wearing it.

The others he's not wearing should be in gold-plated safe, under the watch of 2 armed men and giant laser beams. We'll call it...

    The CyStar.
