    Best Big 12 Stadium/Road Trip

I'd like to try and hit up every Big 12 stadium in the next few years, and I just wanted to see what you thought were the best stadiums, tailgating atmosphere, bar scene etc. I went to the game at Nebraska in '05 and I was definitely impressed with the stadium and the fan base. The tailgating scene sucked, but the bars were okay.

Anyway, would love to hear some stories & reviews.

I think Nebraska is the best stadium--but I've only been to CU, Ames, Austin, and KU. Amazing atmosphere at the games in Lincoln.

Not a big 12 stadium but how about the soon to come trip to Arrowhead in KC? Should be a good one. I really wanna go to A&M as well.

I have been to all of them and I would say the best experience by far was Texas A@M. It is crazy down there. OU was cool but it was to much hickville for me. Oky State fans kind of Identify with us the most and NU fans are down right annoying when your there.

Re: Best Big 12 Stadium/Road Trip

My friends and I are doing the same thing in hitting up all the road sites. Went to Colorado last year and it was lame. We were the first vehicle out in the lots and were in shock that no one out there tailgates. It was a cool town though, kinda like the ped mall in IA City.

Going to A&M this year. Looking forward to that.

Re: Best Big 12 Stadium/Road Trip

A$M is a good time. I would say it fits the image of Texas football that the media sells. Great stadium and fans. The town is all about A$M, a Texas version of Ames. I did not do the bar thing, so I cannot comment.
OU is OK, but I am not a huge fan of Norman.
Was not impressed with MU, but it was 4 years ago.
CU would be great if it had fans like ISU.

I've been to all but CU, Okie State, and Baylor. A&M was far and away our favorite trip. Great stadium, great fans, great tailgating, and we kicked the crap out of them.

    The worst was probably Kansas.

I thought Boulder was great. Not traditional "tailgating," but they had a big area roped off outside of a hotel the couple of times I went. It was a lot of fun. OU was weird, more of a road with a lot of stands. Kind of fun. OSU was so-so, although the facilities were really nice. Game experience at A&M was fantastic, didn't do the tailgating. UT kind of weak.

Austin was fun a couple years ago. College Station wouldve been a lot of fun. Been there a few times not during football season (my brother went there), always enjoyed the area.

Re: Best Big 12 Stadium/Road Trip

From what I can tell on TV, Baylor & KU are pretty underwhelming stadiums. As far as towns go, seems like Lubbock, Waco & Manhattan have a bad rep. Also, I've heard from many B12 fans that ISU has the best tailgating in the conference.

Re: Best Big 12 Stadium/Road Trip

I have been to Nebraska, Missouri, K-State and KU. I really want to get out to Boulder....hopefully next year since we play them in Ames this next season.

All I can say about Nebraska, yes it is a fine stadium....but the tailgate scene is poor. You must go to the bars or find a party at one of the major Hotels to find a proper pre-game party....

Missouri was fun 2 years ago. I would suggest getting down to Columbia. Plus it is not that long of a trip for most Iowans. Is it true that they don't have the "open container law" in Missouri? My friend was just driving us all to the game... obviously not drinking....but when we got into Columbia, waiting to park, he said it was ok for us to crack open some beers. Anyway, the tailgate scene I found was fun and the College bars down there were good too....

KU tailgate sucks period. Did you know you can't even drink anymore once kickoff has begun? Weak. Not too impressed with the University Bars and all either. The Hawk? Please....hated that bar.

K-State's was decent.....gotta pick your spots, i.e. find the Student lots and go to town..........that is all I got for the mildcats.

I've always had a good time in Austin...I would say that if you cant have fun in Austin, you are unable to have fun anywhere.

Okie State was a blast. I had fun at Columbia also. Baylor was bad but we stayed in Dallas.
