Will Chizik keep his foot on the gas?

If or when ISU is up on an inferior opponent, will Gene and Staff keep it going? Mac always called the dogs off very early.

To build an attitude of a winner - you need to dominate your opponents. Chizik is a winner and {hopefully) the days of waiting till the last play to see if we're going to get a W are over.

I really hope we have to worry about that soon, because for the next couple years there won't be too many teams we play that are inferior to us.

I agree, there will be some highs and lows next couple of season. I'm still excited about the possibilities though

Re: Will Chizik keep his foot on the gas?

In football the game is to try and dominate or win the battle versus the guy across the line of scrimmage from you on every down. Chizik understands this and will tolerate nothing less on every play whether we are up by 40 or down by 40.

Having said that, I think Chizik understands that you control the score through play calling. I sincerely doubt we will get a reputation for running up the score like the old Houston teams under John Jenkins did.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

GC will not start exclusively running the ball in the 3rd quarter because we're up by 7, no doubt about it.

Yeah you are right!! Tom Lemming said this morning that ISU's recruiting class this year wont even been in the top fifty.

We won't have to worry about dominating any opponent this year, it will be the other way around, our opponents are going to dominate us in some games.

Let's not even play the games...let's just let Lemming decide what our record is based upon how he judges our recruiting class. What nonsense!

I can assure you that Chizik will be teaching and preaching domination...domination on ever down! I think you are in for a new brand of ISU FB...far different from what you have seen the last 12 years!

Perhaps to build a winning tradition, you get your 2nd (3rd) string some experience. So I say "Put in the scrubs!".

All you need to know about Tom Lemming is that he is an ex-mailman who has managed to sell himself as a recruiting guru despite having no legitimate football background. He always inflates Notre Dame & big 10 recruits. He usually gave Mac props - may have been the big 10 background. He probably spent too much time trudging thru the rain, sleet, and snow to be able to recognize what Chizik is doing to address needs in the program.

Isn't Tom Lemming the same guy who called DM "one of the greatest recruiters in college football" despite DM bringing in the 11th class out of 12 in the Big 12 year after year. Didn't he also go on Kotlar's show last fall and warn ISU not to fire DM? If so, it makes me question his analysis with respect to GC's recruiting.

Re: Will Chizik keep his foot on the gas?

I think the key for G.C. in this recruiting class is to get immediate needs through JUCOs and possibly some sleeper high school recruits that could end up being decent players. So far, he has been successful. More importantly is what type of product Chiz puts on the field. Chizik won't have a great class this year because he started so far behind everyone else and he also had to assemble a coaching staff. He has only been here since late November. Next year should give us a good idea of his recruiting potential.

Do you think we'll do 3-13....dive right up the middle for 2 yards?
