Now kids are choosing to pay their own way to go to Iowa instead of a free ride at ISU.

Anyone that can do that was never a true Cyclone to begin with... good riddance.

I agree. This really makes me upset when kids do this. I can understand them wanting an education but he was never a true Clone!

    Re: Clark Transfer Article

Well, if he didn't want to truely be here after the coaching change, they he and ISU are better off to part ways. Best of luck to him going forward.

And I hope whomever we stick into his spot pounds him right through the mat.

(funny how that business school ranking didn't matter 2 years ago - it hasn't changed much since)

Fact of the matter your business school ranking means about zero once you get out in the real world. I've run into brilliant businessman who just have high school educations while I've met complete duds who have MBA's from Harvard.

    +1

The richest man in Iowa (top 200 in the world at last count, I think) went to DMACC.

The school may open a few doors, but that's about it. And I think that list of schools is pretty short, top 10 maybe.

Please. What is a "true Cyclone?" An athlete who came here because he/she "loves Iowa State?" Really?
Did Stevens, Grayer, etc. come here because they just loved ISU, or because of Orr and the program? Fizer - was it ISU or Tim Floyd that drew him here? How about all of our womens' BB stars - ISU or Bill Fennelly?
They chose to play for ISU because they chose the coach and the program. Clark is no different - he's still be here if his coach hadn't left.

True, most come for the coach. However, many end up staying because of the school (Fizer, most of the football team, etc).

That's true - many student-athletes form friendships and bonds, and don't want to interrupt their academic path. But the vitriol towards Clark is unwarranted IMO - his entire coaching staff is gone, and replaced.
When Kevin Jackson is out recruiting, he's telling them why he's the best coach for them and what happens in his wrestling room; he's not showing slides of the Campanile...

Since the 'business world' is now the metric to be measured against how true a 'Cyclone' is -- let me ask all you titans of commerce this question. Lets say you were recruited to work for a small company and you started and were making progress -- then all of a sudden the the boss and all his lietunants left and were replaced by someone you did not know.

I am sure you are going to say 'I love Co XYZ -- it doesn't matter who runs it -- I committed to the company not the boss'. Right ... and I am Hank Rearden too.

Not really an accurate comparison imo.
Even so, I bet those at company XYZ, who invested $, time, and emotion in the employee who left to go to a direct competitor, whose well being is in dichotomy with XYZ's, would harbor ill feelings.

Well in the job market we're in I wouldn't be doing anything too rash.

Throw in the fact I own part of the company I work for and it is a small one, I'm not going anywhere...

I'd wait it out and see how it goes. Most of my life change has generally been a positive thing in the end.

Why not just say the truth? What a line of BS.
