    ISU plates FYI

If you hadn't heard already, ISU license plates are now available with the new logo. If you're like me, and you want to rid your vehicle of the last remnant of the old logo, you can apply for replacement/duplicate plates through your county treasurer for a small fee. It cost me $5 to replace my old logo plates in Polk Co.

I think this is typically done if your plates are damaged or stolen, but I was allowed to do this simply for a logo upgrade.

I thought it was something like $35 up front and $10 extra annually for those plates, but I don't have them.

Excellent timing. I was just think how great ISU plates would look on my red car. The blue and white looks like crap.

$50 up front, half goes to the University. The annual fee is $5.

Call or e-mail to request an application from the county treasurer. When your plates are in, you'll have to pick them up and turn in your old ones. Bring your registration with you because they'll have to give you new stickers.

Yeah a bit dated...I know they have a database for searching personalized plates in general, is your plate in it?

I think they pull updates to that database on occasion from the DOT. Too bad they also didn't update the school-specific lists...I kind of would like perusing them by school.

And for those that may not know...yes, you CAN get an Upper Iowa Peacocks plate, I kid you not...and I've actually seen one first hand occasionally floating through Pleasant Hill.

Anyone have a picture? They should make them all red with gold letters.

Agree, A cardinal plate with gold numbers would be sharp.
