    River Rescue

I'm typically a die hard cynic, but the photo and story of the river rescue yesterday were pretty compelling. Heard it was going on as I drove home from work, today they had a great photo in the Rag.

    Re: River Rescue

Channel 2 here in CR (KGAN) showed video of the rescue ... the woman had had her clothes torn off by the water - I'm as warmblooded as anyone, but showed a woman's butt crack and side boob while being rescued on television was a little over the top.

The anchorman actually looked uncomfortable after it aired.

    Re: River Rescue

Yeah great story. It sounds like the guy doing the rescuing has had a checkered path which makes it an even better story.

What could anyone possibly be cynical about with this story?

    Re: River Rescue

I like it even better that he blew off the media and went back to work, although as you (dmclone) pointed out he might have wanted out of the spotlight due to his history with law enforcement. Either way, great to see those guys step up.

I said I'm generally cynical, and wasn't to this story. I don't like manufactured heroism and feel good stories, this one is a story you can tell and show a few pictures and get. So no, no cynicism from me on this one, as I said initially.

I just watched the rescue on the register's website and she had her shirt on the whole time.

    Re: River Rescue

Love the comments by the rescuer - "what are you going to do?", "It's no big deal", "that's all I want to say".

True act of selflessness and not looking for the attention. Good for him.

But contrary to his view - it is a prettty damn big deal.

KWWL needs to move into the 21st century. WHO-TV had those portions of her body masked out bu the 5pm news.

yeah ... pulled up to her shoulders - that red shirt isn't flesh colored below her armpits ... it was right as he pulled her from the water. The Des Moines registers video is more tactfully edited.

    channel 2 is not KWWL.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

    KGAN?

KCRG is 9, and KWWL is 7.

Cable channels are kinda messed up, however. At least up in Dbq.
