Big 12 makes splash in 2010 mock draft

The 2009 college football season is still a couple months away, so what better time to check in on the nation's top NFL draft prospects for 2010? As you would expect, the initial set of 32 has plenty of flavors, from offense to defense, seniors to juniors and former Heisman winners to just darn good players.
The Sooners lead a Big 12 boom. Starting with one of those Heisman winners, QB Sam Bradford going to Seattle, there are a half-dozen Oklahoma standouts in this version of Round 1. Not to be forgotten, the intrastate rival Oklahoma State Cowboys are represented twice. In total, it's Big 12 dominance, going 11 for 32, including a Cornhusker defensive star at first overall.
So just who is this guy named Suh? It's been a while since the Blackshirts have had such a dominant player, but Ndamukong Suh looks the part of the next great front-line mauler.
Finally, Vikings QB buzz not involving Brett Favre. If Favre returns to play for Minnesota, he's not exactly a long-term solution, being on the cusp of 40 and coming off shoulder surgery. If Favre doesn't come to the Twin Cities, neither Tarvaris Jackson nor Sage Rosenfels seems like a great answer. So enter the firing Colt from Texas, who just might be the real McCoy franchise quarterback
Here's the 6 out of the top 15 picks
    1. Detroit Lions
    Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
    4. Seattle Seahawks
    *Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
    7. Oakland Raiders
    Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
    8. Jacksonville Jaguars
    *Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
    9. Green Bay Packers
    *Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
    11. Buffalo Bills
    Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma

Re: Big 12 makes splash in 2010 mock draft

I don't know if a mock draft is appropriate before the season kicks off - but it's nice to see where players are projected. If they had ranked players by position or by value it would be more realistic. Remember - Josh Freeman ended up going 17th last year, so there will be some wild cards thrown into the mix as the NCAA and NFL get their seasons going.

They have it all wrong, the Chiefs only draft guys from LSU in the first round.
