It's not even a commit. Coaches can't even offer a player until they enter their junior season. Any frosh in HS in the country can say they are commiting to a school.

Yeah, this isn't even close to binding. I'm sure there are a lot of middle school athletes who would say they're committed to going to a certain college. It doesn't really mean much.

Sept. 1st of their Junior year, technically.

That's why it says "verbally" committed.

On a side note, how good is Eric Berry? If I'm an NFL GM, I take him over Taylor Mays. Just one man's opinion.

I wouldn't take him over Mays but its almost splitting hairs deciding the kid is good. All this is is a family recruit I mean dad and brother played there so he wants to follow good for him hope the kid is good enough to do it. Wonder what Kiffins thinking?

No. Do you have any clue how good Eric Berry is? McShay, Kiper, Mayock all have Berry above Mays on their draft boards. Mays is a heavy hitter and a ballhawk. Berry is speedster with superior athleticism and a knack for picking off passes. They're both great players, I'm just more of a Berry guys.

If I'm an NFL GM I look at Berry more now since he will be in an NFL-ready defensive scheme coached by Monte Kiffin.

Taylor Mays ran a 4.28, and you're saying that Berry's faster? (And he was Washington State champion in the 100 and 200 three straight years in each before giving that up his senior year for football.)

Berry is flat out better than Mays. Mays is a freak but Berry is going to go down as one of the greatest safeties of all time IMO. The guy is unreal
