Great article. Shows that Barnes will be a fantastic student-athlete, something college basketball needs right now!

    F ing Condoleezza Rice!

They were off on his sophomore year. Ames didn't even make state that year

    Re: Barnes Article on SI.com

Nice article, except that in HB's sophomore year, Ames High didn't "lose the state championship game on a 16-foot buzzer beater." They didn't even make the state tournament. ????

    Re: Barnes Article on SI.com

They lost the sectional title game to play in state by a buzzer beater by M-town.

Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
    'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

It also had better be an Iowa State coach that pens all those handwritten letters..

    Re: Barnes Article on SI.com

What's cool about Barnes is that he's so much more than a basketball player. College athletics need a lot more individuals like Barnes. Regardless of what school he chooses, he'll be a great ambassador for Ames.

What a great story for Ames.

I was hoping for more ISU mentions in that article.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

6'11" wingspan and a good student and well-rounded individual who happens to be the most pursued high school baller in the country and he's right in the Cyclone's back yard, who's dad played for Johnny Orr...this most likely will never happen again.....

...man, oh man, for once I wish it would happen for us to get him to play for the 'Clones

Re: Harrison Barnes Article on SI.com

wow.. both articles are awesome.. Ames on espn.. that is sweet, and when you think about it, that will give iowa state some exposure just because Mac's son, and you know they will be talking about all that as well

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
