    BRR Ride...

So... any other CFer's doing the BRR Ride (Bike Ride to Rippey) tomorrow morning from Perry?? Should be a little on the cold side, but a couple of friends and me are going. We'll be the ones stopping every 500 feet to down another adult beverage on the side of the road in a feable attempt at staying warm!!

    Re: BRR Ride...

ur crazy.. way to cold..but good luck with that

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    Re: BRR Ride...

Was going to, but not since it got to be single digits. There was once a time that I would feel compelled to do such a cold ride, purely on (stupid) principle. But a -20 wind chill is a touch much.

I think the plan is to meet with the bike club for breakfast, and perhaps head up to the bars. Maybe then I'll work up enough liquid courage to do the ride.

More likely, I'll over-eat and go home back to bed.

You have my admiration sir - and my sympathies.

Have you done this ride before? Any identifying team apparel we should be on the lookout for?

One piece of advice I'll give - Get back before dark. Made that mistake once .... ONCE!

    Re: BRR Ride...

No team apparel, but I doubt you'd be able to see it what with all the clothes we'll be wearing. This will be my first year doing BRR, a couple of the people I'm going with went last year and said it was horrible, but they're back for more... so it can't be THAT bad...

    Re: BRR Ride...

You might rethink that sentiment about mile 19 or so, especially if you have a headwind.

Ok, so the bike stays on the wall. From weather.com:

"Partly cloudy skies. Very cold. Dangerous wind chills may approach -25F. High 4F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph."

Man, I got cold just thinking about that.

Actually at -25, wouldn't surprise me to see them cancel the ride. Bars will be open however - which is all that really matters.

    Re: BRR Ride...

Love the BRR on the days it is 30-50 degrees. Any colder and it is just self abuse, tomorrow it looks like a good thing to do if you are up for an insanity plea.

    Re: BRR Ride...

    How did it go, Campy?

Heard they pulled the plug on the beer tent in Rippey. That should've pretty much killed the ride for about 80% of the crowd. No beer at the halfway point = just riding 23 miles in February. What fun is that?

    Re: BRR Ride...

I heard the bar in Perry was packed, sounds like only a few souls even got to Rippy, no word on how many made it the whole way. The most common quote was "we got a mile out and rode a mile back" - this is second hand info, anybody actaully make it?
