    Wild Blue Internet Provider

Anyone have any experience with Wild Blue? I'm the last guy on dial-up and am ready to move outta the stone age.
Mediacom keeps sending me offers - that when I call them up, "We're sorry that not available in your area." Even though they send it to my address.

Mediacom would always call me asking if I needed phone service. WTF?

Just be thankful that you're not in Mediacom's area.
Are you in the country?...i.e. you're options are limited?

I believe that's what my parents have. It's been okay when I've used it at their house. Slower than our cable internet, but faster than dial-up. Reliability seems to be okay, too.

Any chance on a sprint, verizon, etc card working for you?

In the country + Dutch (don't spend much).

Cloudburst 9 looks to be about my only other option, but they're a little more pricey.

    Re: Wild Blue Internet Provider

I live in the country near Pella and have Wildblue. However I also use a verizon card provided by work which is MUCH faster, particularly for uploading data. I would see if you can get one rather than wildblue.

Verizon cards would be cheaper than Wildblue. Satellite internet providers are very pricey.

I have WildBlue... On a scale of 1-10 with 1 the lowest and 10 the highest, I would rank it about -5... In my opinion, it is that bad.

If you run into the bandwidth limit, it will be very slow. It is also the first internet service that has made email be painfully slow. I pretty much do all my email on my iPhone over the Edge connection because it is faster. Visiting "secure" sites that use SSL, such as banking are extremely slow.

If you just want to browse the web and download a few files, it might be acceptable to you. Lately, it seems that their networks have been down a lot, which is VERY frustrating when you have something important to do (like pay bills). Also, if it rains, don't be surprised if the internet is extremely slow, or you get no internet at all.

The only plus side of WildBlue is you get to talk to Wayne Morgan if you have his company install it.
