    O'hare airport info?

Picking up a couple from canada this weekend in chicago. They're not sure they have cell service beyond buffalo but i believe it may just be a case of costing them a chuck of change per minute down here. So maybe i wont be able to reach them in the airport.

Whats the pick up like? Is there a palce to meet up with them outside their terminal? Is baggage claim a possibiliy for meeting up?

Ive been thru O'hare a few times but never entered or exited the place in anything besides a plane. Dont know my way around there.

I would just park, probably cost you money, but can't be much for an hour or so, then just meet them at Baggage Claim.

The pick-up has four tires, two seats in the front, maybe four in an extended cab, and then a long truck bed that people use to haul things, but that's not important right now.

If they're coming into O-Hare, you may as well buy them some clothes on your way; that place is where luggage goes to die.

I agree. If you can, you should park and meet at baggage claim. Some of the parking is out there and there is a free train that goes out to the lots. REMEMBER where you parked! It is easy to get turned around out there.

Unfortunately, I have been a victim of luggage loss from O'Hare. A direct flight from Chicago to Washington, D.C., and they managed to misplace my luggage. I was on my way to a summer conference in high school that required formal attire on all days except check-in/out days. I was traveling in jeans and a hoodie. I didn't have money to buy new stuff, so I wore those same clothes every day from Tuesday to Saturday. Had to shower, wash my clothes every night while sitting in my towel in the laundry room. And had to explain to everyone why I wasn't in proper attire. I woke up Sunday morning to the guy knocking on my door with my luggage--it had apparently travelled to LA, connected to Sydney, back to LA, back to O'Hare, and then to DC.

I understand some lost luggage on connecting flights, especially if it's a short stopover time. But direct? Come on.

But other than that, no advice on pick-up. Only been dropped off there once, and had some layovers there a few times.

Watch their flights before you go, they could be anywhere from 5 hours to 2 days late.

Especially with t-storms popping. Hell they could get re-routed to a place like Cedar Rapids... just saying.

O'Hare is generally hell on earth.

Sorry, you hit a nerve here, I once got delayed 8 hours on a flight from Minneapolis to O'hare.

Time if I drove: 7 hours
    Price I paid: $300

I had a layover there last Thursday. Thankful I didn't have one yesterday there. Had it in Memphis instead.

    Re: O'hare airport info?

As a frequent business traveler, I'll say O'Hare is probably the frequent flyer's worst favorite and most often avoided airport, when possible.

    Re: O'hare airport info?

I hate O'Hare as well. I think I've flown out of there 12 times in the last 2 years and 10 of my flights have been delayed at least a half an hour. I avoid it like the plague.

    Re: O'hare airport info?

and what about wrigley? is there a place to park a few miles out and then get on the train or a bus er something to get there?

i was told by a frequent flyer that its best to connect thru detroit instead of chicago anytime its feasible.

My wife travels quite a bit and she refuses to fly into O'hare. She will do anything and everything to avoid that layover death trap they call O'hare.

Also a business traveler, and O'Hare is the absolute worst, with the possible exception of Philly. You'd better wipe out anything else you may have had planned and chalk up the entire day to that recovery mission.

    Re: O'hare airport info?

I can't believe people are complaining about being delayed at O'Hare. While being delayed sucks, it beats the hell out of the sprint from one extreme end of the airport to the other extreme end that I sometimes have to do when I only have a 30 minute layover to catch the next flight (and no, I don't intentionally do this, this is usually the fault of some co-worker who is way too desperate to get home after a week-long trip - hey buddy, an extra couple of hours ain't going to kill you)...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
