Advice on getting to Wrigley Field

I am going to a cubs game with my brother on Friday, July 10th and Saturday July 11th versus the Cards. My brother is coming from Des Moines but I'm coming from Bloomington, IL. Any advice on hotels and parking on for getting to the games.

Re: Advice on getting to Wrigley Field

There aren't a lot of hotels around Wrigley. I would honestly just stay in a hotel in the city and then take the L train to the park. You will have to spend around $30 to park around the stadium.

Re: Advice on getting to Wrigley Field

For Saturday park at Devry and take the shuttle in. I don't believe it's available Friday. I will park downtown and take the red line up or park out at Rosemont and take the train into Addison then take the bus over to wrigley.

Re: Advice on getting to Wrigley Field

As for hotels..use hotwire and find one downtown if you want to pay the money or get one by the airport and take the train from O'Hare or Rosemont.

Re: Advice on getting to Wrigley Field

you can usually get a hotel out by Ohare on priceline/hotwire cheap, then just take the train to wrigley. You can drink all you want during the game and then hit some bars around it after and not have to worry about driving or parking.

Actually, the best way to get to Wrigley Field is to become an overpaid under achiever...

Re: Advice on getting to Wrigley Field

i second the parking at ohare airport. there is a park and ride there where you can park your car for about 2 bucks, hop on the train and get all the way to wrigely. the quickest route is taking the train to adison then getting on a bus right down to wrigely. You can ride the train all the way and avoid the bus but have to go downtown to transfer. just my two cents

    Here is a close hotel...

Chicago, Illinois boutique hotel near downtown - Best Western Hawthorne Terrace

I would take the Red line/bus though and stay out by the airport like others mentioned.

This is the correct answer; there are quite a few hotels out in Rosemont, which is the suburb next to O-Hare. The blue runs right into Rosemont, and you can take that downtown and then switch to the Red line headed north, and that will drop you off one block East of the ballpark.

It's about a 1 1/2 hour ride by train, so plan accordingly if thats where you decide to stay.

Re: Advice on getting to Wrigley Field

The one time we went, we parked out in Rosemont, and rode the train all the way to Wrigley. I would advise taking the bus from Addison, but my then girlfriend didn't like the idea of riding the bus up. Needless to say we ended up making the game in the 2nd inning and we left an hour beforehand.

Definitely make sure you leave plenty of time if you want to go from Rosemont to Wrigley.

Cut down about 45 minutes and take the bus into wrigley! MUCH MUCH FASTER!

Yeah, personally I like the train, but this is right. Get off at the blue line (formerly O'Hare-Congress) at Addison, cross the street and get the Addison bus going east to Wrigley. It is probably a little faster than transfering downtown from the blue to red line, but either is ok. At least with the trains, you don't have to worry about traffic.

I usually just drive to Wrigley and find some place on the street to park. Never been failed. You might end up with a 10-15 minute walk though.

I don't know the last time you have been there, but in recent years the streets have "permit parking" so that people don't live in the neighborhood can't take up spots during games. Depends on where you are and you can still find parking, but it is a lot tougher than it used to be.
