    Matt Hoch

I was looking at his ESPN recruiting profile. This kid is a top 150 recruit who is from Harlan, Iowa. It says he is considering Iowa, Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Stanford. This is a Iowa kid so we should try really hard to get this kid. This is what his profile said.
The Spring Evaluation Period has ushered in a new stage of Harlan (Iowa) defensive end Matt Hoch's recruitment. And he's growing more interested in Iowa State because of its new coaches.

Why would we want him? He's from Iowa.

Our last coach didn't do us any favors ignoring much recruiting here in Iowa. Paul Rhoads has to rebuild some bridges with Iowa high schools and that's simply going to take some time. Harlan's kids have tended to go to Iowa so won't hold my breath on Hoch.

What? The last one I can think of that went to Iowa from Harlan was Michel Burger. sp? That was in the early 90's I believe. We had Chris Cue walk on at ISU in 98. One last year that went to Mizzou. The fact is that not too many Harlan kids go D1. A lot more of them tend to go to Southwest Missouri State. This is a completely false statement.

Not trying to egg you on, but what's incorrect about what I said? They don't tend to come to Ames?

Simple. You originally said that they tend to go to Iowa. Not True

Actually the bulk of my message was about the lack of in state recruiting which ISU has done the last few years. Iowa's generally done a better job lately, so advantage Iowa.

The last comment was an afterthought. Burger Iowa. Cue ISU. I liked Burger a little better than Cue.

    I thought they were D2?

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

I think we should recruit him more. To show that we are very interested.

I agree. We need to recruit him more than we already are.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Matt Hoch

Why would this kid NOT choose to go play where his older brother is playing (Mizzou)?

I didn't know that connection. I was wondering why Mizzou even had a chance at him.
