    Courtney Lee

To many people are assuming that the shot he missed was easier than it really was. I swear some people have never touched a basketball unless it was a Nerf.

    Re: Courtney Lee

He still should have made it. He missed a lay up on the previous possession, too.

For you and me, it may be a difficult shot. But if you get paid millions of dollars annually to do nothing but play the game of basketball, you better put it in.

its a message board, a majority of people should still be playing the sports they talk about or be coaching them because they know all the right things to do.

    Re: Courtney Lee

Of course he should and definetly could have made that. But the difficulty of that shot was way more than you think. He was falling away from the basket. It was a worse pass than shot I think. You put that ball a bit back thats a dunk.

    Re: Courtney Lee

His body was already behind the backboard. Try to make a layup from there even without your full momentum heading out of bounds.

    Re: Courtney Lee

Not an easy shot by any means, but definitely one he could and probably should have made.

    Re: Courtney Lee

    Per Bill Simmons, ESPN:

Do me a favor: Go to a playground with a buddy, bring a 7-foot guy with you, stand at midcourt, then sprint toward the basket, have a buddy throw a lob pass that you'll catch as you're passing under the backboard, then have the 7-foot guy jump at you and grab the rim for good measure. Try this 100 times and see how many you make. Put it this way: If Lee made that shot, it's one of the great plays in the history of the Finals. So you can't give him a crap. You just can't. That would have been an AMAZING (that's right, I went all caps) pass/shot and ranked right up there with Ralph Sampson's series-winner in the '86 Western finals on the "I can't believe they drew that up and then pulled it off" scale.

    Re: Courtney Lee

Really nice post. Thanks to the Sports Guy for writing that in the first place.

It was an exciting play. I feel terrible for a guy being the goat in the eyes of people that don't even have the ability to try in the first place.

Its not an easy shot...for me. But this is the NBA, and that was an easy shot in the NBA that he should have made.

    Re: Courtney Lee

I think it would have been a much easier shot for him if he didn't try to bank it in. That was a tough angle to make that shot off of the glass.

He also could have tried to draw a fake foul

I'm starting to think that a modified Bobby Heenan rule should apply to NBA shooters: "Make it if you can, miss it if you must, but always, always flop."

If someone falls, seems like the refs assume someone must have been nearby to make the foul. Like the guys on the playground that call a foul when they're the only ones on that side of the court.

    Re: Courtney Lee

It was a tough shot ... he's right handed correct? if he's a lefty that adds even a greater degree of difficulty.

He was 1/2 under the hoop falling out at full speed (his full speed, not normal pickup game full speed) that ball had to be put up really light, he just gave it too much of a push. Not that he had much time to think about it.

If Kobe takes that he hits it, just to make me hate him more.
