    Beer prices

I was in KC over the weekend and saw a 30 pack of Busch Light for $14.99. You cann't even get an 18 pack here anymore for nothing less than $15.00. WTF?

I know that. Do taxes play a role in it? In Iowa, the base price doesn't even reflect the stupid deposit.

    Re: Beer prices

Instead of taxing Busch Light we should just ban it.

I've seen an 18 for under $15. I usually buy Bud Light/Coors light and never pay more than $16ish for a 24 pack.

There is almost no barley in the pressure brew rice beers made in the US, so this shouldn'e affect the price that much.

    Re: Beer prices

Went to my parents yesterday and my dad had the fridge stocked with about 30 cans of Old Milwaukee Light Best. BEST. Really? Is there anything best about any can of Old Mil?

I tried it out of curiosity. Tasted like lightly soured water with a head.

I would assume (although I'm not sure) that taxes play a huge part of it. Iowa taxes most things that are vices pretty heavily.

I am. AND I really don't like beer. I'm just pretty sure that Iowa taxes this heavily, since it's very non-essential (unlike food or something of the nature).

As long as the state is taxing "very non-essential" things...can we get a tax on tarheel hawk?

    J/K Tarheel...you know I'm loving you!

I'm pretty sure Angie is right on the mark with this one. I'm not a smoker, but I'm pretty sure I have heard on several occasions that cigarettes are much cheaper in Missouri as well.
