    WBB Elite Camp

Just starting a thread for the WBB elite camp (articles, pictures, first-hand info).

I've been in Ames this weekend but never had time to go to Forker. Did anyone watch any of the camp?

Be glad you didn't make it....it felt like it was 100 degrees down there.

With the basketball facility being built I'm guessing this is the last year for it in Forker, which is a very good thing.

There is an interesting question. Is the new facility going to be air conditioned.

    Re: WBB Elite Camp

Jessica Schroll played very well...she was playing thru some injuries last summer and this year appears to be 100%...no knee brace or anything. I knew she was a good athlete, but she showed off a better shot then I was expecting from her.

There was also a guard from Texas whose name I did not catch that was a very impressive passer...and she did a great job controlling the tempo for her team.
Poppens is still my favorite player to watch because she is so active and plays with a great deal of aggressiveness.

Zimmerman played solid, she was able to step out and hit some 18-20 footers and I've only seen her play a few times and had not seen that from her yet so that was good to see.

Yes...Anna was an Taylor Greenfield's team (wonder how in the world that happened )

Anna didn't play great, mainly because as is the nature of these camps there was limited offensive structure, and that generally hampers the post players more then anyone. She never really got into a rythm and quite often when she did get the ball was surrounded by 3-4 players. One thing about her is she rarely rushes/forces things and is content to kick it back out to her teammates.

So which newcomers do you expect to have the biggest impact on the team??

    Re: WBB Elite Camp

I'd say Anna will, because I fully expect her to be a starter from the moment she walks onto campus. And with her size and shooting ability, I think she will cause match up problems for some centers...just as her youth will provide them an advantage at times. I think at the end of the year people will be as impressed with her mental side of the game as they are her physical side.

Zimmerman and Poppens are 2 opposites in my book...Amanda is skilled and pretty polished, whereas Poppens is pretty raw but has some tremendous athleticism and plays with abandon. I think those 2 will each have their moments to shine and each will struggle at times, as freshman are bound to do.

Not sure about Schroll (and I apologize if I am spelling her name wrong)...she is also a good athlete but one who seems more developed then she was at this time last year. I'd say she's definitely not a PG but she can have some great value at the 2 and sometimes the 3 as her athletic ability will allow her to play there as needed.

Any details (skin color, hair color, height estimate)? Maybe I can try to figure out who it was.
