    Recruiting updates

    http://ilprepbullseye.com/page42.html
We are hard after 2012 PG Keith Carter ( http://www.ilprepbullseye.com/page5.html been keeping Williams quiet, but the cat's out of the bag. As of right now, he's our main target at the 2/3 in 2011. His potential is off the charts. His AAU coach, Mike Mullins, who was Evan Turner's coach, said he has the potential to be better than Turner. Right now, we are in the lead for Williams, and sitting well with Chasson. Williams is a 6'5" 2/3 who is a great shooter, arguably the best athlete in his class in the state of Illinois, and has a 6'7" wingspan. The biggest question mark w/ him right now is an incident last year, when he took a friends ipod as a prank, but his friend didn't know it was a prank. The friend reported the ipod stolen, and when Williams returned the ipod, the school found out and booted him for a year due to their no tolerance policy. He does need to improve on the defensive end, but with his athleticism and quickness, he has the chance to be a very good defender if he continues to work at.
Chasson is impressin at the 16-U trials, he's one of, if not the, best PG there.

    Thanks for the update.

Question: Why do we want Keith Carter? Isn't that where we have staten in?

Staten is projected to be in the 6'4"-6'5" range. With his athleticism and quickness, he could easily switch over to the 2 or even three guard. That's why we're looking at Paige and Carter.

Hey Dog, what's up with 2010 right now, any hot names besides Barnes, Ejim, Haley and Doug McD? Is Spearman still a possibility? Thx.

Thanks cyismydog. Is Gessell still an option? I read he did pretty well at the Manhattan tourny. He also could end up anywhere between 6-1 to 6-5, correct? Rivals has some notes on the top performers of the USA U16 team and Randle is one. He seems to be the perfect pg- runs the team well, but has great ability to score if needed. Marcus Paige was named to the top 25 list on ESPN and has a rating of 94. He is reportedly down at KU's camp right now. Staten was not on the list, but had a rating of 90 or 91. So some of the top players we are looking at:
    PG: Paige('12), Randle('11), Carter (12)
    SG/PG: Staten ('12), Gessell('12)
    SG/SF: Williams ('11)
At first glance it seems like too many pg's, then you realize they are not even sophomore/juniors yet. Staten and Gessell may grow to SG or wing gaurds/small forwards, Randle is able to play the two.

Any post men we are in on? I am not concerned as it is early. Plus, unlike guards/wings, McD has proven he can find the project type and make them serviceable big men.

Man, Daniyal Robinson sure is doing us right...why is he doing so well as a recruiter for us, is it his personality or is he from Chicago...or both?

My understanding is he and his family have great connections in that state. I think Randle is coached by either a relative of D-Rob or Chris Colvin. I am sure he has a great personality as well.
Also, what is encouraging is looking at who he recruited to Ill State, is he has a good eye for talent that may not be on the radar. It may be harder for him to sneak them out o a school like Iowa State than to Ill. State.
D-Rob just had a new addition to his family, so I am sure it is quite a busy time for them.

His connections are unreal..It's too bad he couldn't have been here and got Osiris Eldridge for us.

College Basketball Recruiting - ESPNU 100 - ESPN
Chasson's ranked #31 in his class. About right, maybe a little too high, IMO.

Cyismydog--can you edit the OP to fix the link? I think that I fixed it here, but it would be nice to read that from Post One.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)
