That's a big pick up. Gorkys Hernandez is supposed to be a stud, but really, how well have these trades panned out for the Pirates in the past?

I'm wishing they didn't have to give up Jeff Locke. He has pitched well this year in the minors and in the winter leagues. I think he could be great.

But, hopefully McClouth can show the current lineup what to do w/ that chunk of lumber in their hands...

You mean take a dive, writhe on the ground, and take your base?

    Instead of that.

Yes, I am embarrassed for Mr. Escobar. Almost as embarrassed as I am for Greg Paulus and his acting job.

    Atleast it worked for Escobar.

I just assumed that he recalled some childhood trauma where a pitched baseball hit a bat he was holding. The emotional pain made the base worth the giving.

What are you talking about? Do you not understand this trade? The Braves sent Gorkys Hernandez, among other prospects to the Pirates for Nate McLouth.

    Re: Braves Get Nate McClouth

    Wow...

I honestly cannot figure out what the Pirates are trying to accomplish in Pittsburgh. I understand that, like other small market teams, they have to build a winner by building up their farm system. The only problem is they've been trying to build that sucker for years, and at some point you've got to hold onto the talent and run with it. ESPN was saying that last year the Pirates had the best outfield in the Major Leagues - why not try to build around that instead of always trading away their young studs to get the next crop of prospects that may or may not flame out in the Minors?

As someone else commented on the ESPN site, Pittsburgh continues to be an overglorified MLB farm team.

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I also do not understand the Pirates philosophy. But, as a Cubs fan, I don't mind at all. Thanks for Aramis Ramirez by the way, Buccos!

    Re: Braves Get Nate McClouth

At this time last year, the Pirates had Jason Bay in left, McLouth in center and Xavier Nady in right. That's a pretty good outfield. They haven't had a winning season since 1992, which was the last year Barry Bonds was there.

Barry Bonds = Pittsburgh's curse of the Bambino
