Vince Young to issue an ultimatum?

Is Vince Young ready to give the Tennessee Titans an ultimatum?

Well, some comments he made to WMAR in Baltimore sure make it sound like one might be coming.

Said Young, "I definitely want to get back out there playing ball and picking up where I left off, winning games and having a good time with my teammates and with the fans. At the same time, if them guys don't want me to be in there, it's time for me to make a career change for myself."
Young was benched last season after injuring his knee in the first game and losing his job to veteran QB Kerry Collins.
With Collins at the helm, the Titans went 13-3, losing to the Ravens in the playoffs.
Tennessee resigned Collins to a two-year, $15 million deal in the offseason, with coach Jeff Fisher announcing him the starter for the upcoming season. Fisher said at the time that Young would have to "earn his job back." Young was drafted third overall by the Titans in 2006 and went on to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year and a spot in the Pro Bowl.

Maybe by career change, he needs to become a "teammate" and do what's best for the team... backup, play wide receiver, play option back... etc...

Tennessee is rumored to also be issuing an ultimatum, "stop sucking or we're cutting you."

They should just cut him now... Then he will really know what it is like.

Maybe he should EARN the job. Typical spoiled athlete. It gets old.

Re: Vince Young to issue an ultimatum?

Where is this feeling of self-entitlement coming from for him, this isn't the university of Texas where he was THE man, he needs to WIN this job and prove he deserves it every day, my guess: Barring Collins getting injured he will not start a game for Tennessee this year.

Cry me a river Vince, you have $20 million sitting in the bank and all you have to do is hold a clip board (little chance of getting hurt). I think anyone of us on this board will trade spots with you right now.

I just have to say Wow. I hope this comes back and bites him in the ***. He, Mike Vick, and Ryan Leaf can cry together over wasted talent and opportunities.

Re: Vince Young to issue an ultimatum?

I think people are being a little hyper-critical on this. Yes, it wasn't phrased the best, but this is a guy that won ROY and has demonstrated he can play in the league and win. Make fun of his lack of NFL passing game as you will but what he did with Tennessee with the lack of skill position athletes was amazing.

He needs a lot of polishing for the pro game yet. He needs even more mental maturity, but there is potential there if he gets with the right coach and system for him to be Vick-esque.

Re: Vince Young to issue an ultimatum?

His stats his ROY season were still pathetic. 50% completion, more picks than touchdowns. The thing about Vince Young is that he's got exception talent, but his heart isn't in the game. Couple that with running a system at Texas that in no way prepared him for the NFL and you've got trouble.

He won games. That's the most important stat.

Yeah, wow. I think some people are sticking the fork in VY a little too early. Clearly, he needs to get his head right, but his talent is undeniable and he's already proven that he can win in this league. If VY commits to making himself a better QB and buys into what Jeff Fisher has planned for him, beating out Collins will be a minor footnote in his career.
