    Vikings Mini-camp report

Access Vikings: Blog Archive Minicamp recap

Sounds like they are really happy with Harvin. It will be interesting to see them running some Wildcat this season.

If they continue with the inconsistent QB play again (hopefully not), Harvin back there might be their best option...

I'm excited to see him in Mankato this summer. Hopefully he puts on a clinic for WRs.

I think he can be a game changer so long as he stays out of trouble. He has a ton of potential.

I would say if you were to give out ownership of the "Wildcat" it would be to the Arkansas Razorbacks. But really, Halfback snaps in general have been around for a while.

but, the Phins are the only professional team to successfully use it for almost a whole season. It would be like a pro-team successfully using the triple option as a viable offense. It's hard to make some things work at the pro-level.

The Razorbacks do deserve some love for pimping it on the college scene.

Lord knows nothing has ever been copied in the NFL - see West Coast Offense.

I see what you're saying, but comparing this to the triple option is nowhere near the same thing. It's more closely related to running reverses or screens or something of that nature. It wasn't their base offense, not even close.

    Re: Vikings Mini-camp report

Wildcat is a gimmick just like any other gimmick that comes along. It will probably be pretty popular this year, but by next year or maybe the year after, it will have run its course. Defenses will adjust and we will move on to the next thing. Teams will still run it from time to time, but it will go back to obscurity.

Just like the run n' shoot, the zone blitz, the 46 defense, etc.
