June 1, 2009: The Return of Marty Tirrell and Conan O'Brien

Today is a big day for Iowa Sports Fans and Late Night comedy watchers as well. Today marks Marty Tirrell's return to the airwaves from 4-6 on 1700 The Champ after the 'Marty Tirrell Tirade' on KXNO. Then, later tonight, Conan takes over for Jay Leno on the Historic Tonight Show on NBC. Today is truly a great day for many Iowans, sports fans, and all Americans. June 1, 2009 will, without a doubt, go down in history.

Well I am excited for Conan's debut, but as for that other one who cares.

Great....now we're back to more of Marty yelling at callers, interrupting callers saying "I understand that but...", his weasel laugh, his kissing up to Toyota....well the list goes on.

And somedays, I can't help but listen to him. Probably won't much with Matt and Miller though.

I'm going to see how long I can go with out listening to Marty F. Tirrell. I actually like Gottleib so I'll miss him.

Sounds like two events worth missing.

My guess is that Tirrell won't be starting today.

Anyone see Mouth Tirrell's commercial on ISU and Dykstra? You can just sense the bitterness in his voice. He hates us here at CF, and I love it.

I thought the main guy at 1700 said in a TV interview back when MT got fired that he would not be hired at the Champ. I must have misunderstood.

Apparently not, just watched the clip on his website and it sounds like Clear Channel sent a few letters to stop his show.

Re: June 1, 2009: The Return of Marty Tirrell and Conan O'Brien

I think it is a 'Non compete clause' that stopped the F-bomber's show on 1700.

Never fear though, the F-bombers been buddying up to uberconnected lawyer Jerry Crawford's for years so I fully expect a challenge of that clause. You think that constant on air shilling for the Iowa Energy was a coincidence ?

My guess is the legal argument (which may or may not work but I haven't seen his employment contract so I dont know for sure) will be... 'Clear Channel fired me so the non compete clause doesn't apply

    You are surely right.

He probably is still being paid by Clear Channel. Until is contract is up he most certainly can't be on another radio station.
