    Facility improvements in 2010?

We have had some sort of facility improvement almost every year since 2002, the exception being 2005, what if any facility improvements will start this fall/next year.

I know that we would all like to see the end zone bowled in, but that is unlikely to happen this year. ISU would have to have an extra 3.6 million or so in revenue every year for 25 years in order to pay off the loan to finish JT, unless there is some huge donor- but if they haven't landed him yet they aren't going to. I think that we really need to do some renovations to Hilton, just to keep it from falling apart while we try to finish the master plan.

Anyone think we will be able to do any more renovation/construction next year?

Probably not much this year unless there is a large donor that steps up.

I would say if someone donates 10-15 million we would be good to go for the endzone. No the chances of that happening......
Maybe someone invested 5 million is Principal Stock when it was $5 a share?

Everyone likes the idea of closing in the Jack including myself, but until we are filling up the place each game what would be the point?

But the question is, if not the Jack, then what is the next project?

What happened to the suites in Hilton?

Note: I'm not a fan of that idea AT ALL!

    Re: Facility improvements in 2010?

I think we need to work on basic renovation to Hilton. Repairing cracks in the concrete (those walkways are in terrible shape), etc. They have kindof started already by renovating offices but there is allot of work that needs to be done. I wonder how much it would cost to expand the concourse without all the extra building added on to the front of the coliseum.

yeah exactly.... Its that bad. Right by the softball field. I have heard rumors that we would move it to the fields by MWL. But that's only once we have the money and rumor has it, we already have a pledge of one million.

    Huh....

(I was being serious in that question. I'm ignorant on that subject and know nothing of track)

But I'd guess that since JP is a former runner, this is probably pretty high on his wish list.

Actually, I think that you have it right. I think that they will put an outdoor track east of JT next summer. Really, that's a fairly small investment. Track, stands, restrooms, locker rooms. The largest cost could be either filling the dirt to raise the facility out of a flood plane or pushing up a barrier along the river to keep the water out. Of course, if they are going east of MWL, they avoid that problem.

I doubt either will happen. That area hardly ever floods, and when it does, it is because of heavy rainfall that got stuck in a low spot. They may have to fill a little so that everything slants toward the river, but that is probably all. Even last year I don't think it flooded anything except that parking lot.

That is interesting. I agree that they do need a new track, but I figured that wouldn't happen until after the other construction. If they already have 1 million, it could happen next year.

Don't forget about area for fields events.

I think to have a really good outdoor facility at a D1 level, you'd want to spend about $2-3 million, especially if you're building at a completely new site. The hub's alma mater completely re-did their outdoor track a few years ago to the tune of $1 million and that's at a DIII school.
