Most colorful character in ISU history?

    Hi everyone:

I'm firing up the ole '82 Delorean research machine and seeing what you guys can come up with this time. My research is in need of colorful characters-- the ones that your Pa would talk about in his rocking chair near the fireplace, "Lemme tell you something sonny, when I was your age, we had a running back that gained 500 yards in a quarter. His name was Troy..."

My early line of colorful characters include:

Chris Taylor-- the oversized Cabbage Patch Kid wrestler who dominated college wrestling.

Blaise Bryant-- of the prodigious flat-top and surfing skills who liked being in the middle of nowhere as opposed to California, because it made him different.

    Attachment 5247

Troy Davis-- slicker than slippery snot.

Seneca Wallace-- the most dazzling athlete I have ever seen; sin daddy indeed.

    Cael Sanderson-- undefeated.

Dan Gable-- ISU's own Rocky. Think about it, the Russians had a whole plan devised to defeat him, but could never find their own Ivan Drago to take him out.

Nawal el Moutawakel-- when a whole country names their baby girls after you, that probably means you did pretty good.

Ed Bock-- our own trickster who used to spit out false teeth in front of the football referee to get the other team penalized for excessive roughness.

Hilton Magic-- not a person, but a darn good ghost story.

    Jack Trice-- legend.

Any other colorful people? I could really use your help! If anything, which one is your favorite "story"? Thanks a lot.

Does it have to be an athlete? Wild Bill is pretty colorful.

Johnny Orr I think fits the bill as well.

First one that popped up in my mind, without thinking too hard, was Blaise Bryant as well.

Crutchfield might be up there somewhere? Vroman? Sam Hill? Lafester Rhodes? Tracy Henderson? Braswell? Espinoza?

Most colorful character in "ISU history?" I would go with "t" if we are in a serif font, but possible "y" in sans serif.

Gotta go with a capital "S" if we're allowed to include cursive-style fonts. It's just got such sass - kind of looks like a treble clef.

I gotta go with Johnny Orr. Some of the other ones are good, too.

I have to say Johnny. Just listening to the man makes me smile. He just has that special way about him that makes you like him.

Great point. I may lean "I" if we are going with a gothic font. I know, I know, that may be a bit controversial. But, hey, this is a message board.

On a related note, treble clef or bass clef?

I gotta go bass clef. It just looks classier. If I were ever to see a tattoo like this one, I would know that's one classy dude:

The Bartle and James knock off posters that Johnny Orr and Jim Walden did were pretty classic. That's back when I used to like Jim.

Johnny was so darn funny about everytime he talked. It's hard for me to think of him not winning.

Please, no more pictures of me. At least you did not post the pic of the ellipses on my shoulder or the ampersand on my neck.
