Re: Big 12 Bowl Pecking Order to Change?

A lot of conferences are looking at different bowl tie in and changing their bowl lineup. The Big 10 is doing the same and have apparently looked at the Gator and Holiday bowl but I don't see the Holiday working in that sense.

Interesting. I really enjoyed attending the bowl game in Reliant stadium, it had a good atmosphere and ample tailgating room. The Independence bowl (aka the Lousiana State Fairgrounds) on the other hand was pretty scary...both times.

Re: Big 12 Bowl Pecking Order to Change?

I agree, I think the Houston game should have a good chance to climb in the pecking order. I think it beat down Shreveport in every aspect even though based on the bowl order it is the "lesser" or the two games.

Big 10 vs Big 12 in the Holiday Bowl would be great

I went to both the Houston Bowl and out last Indy Bowl game and I actually enjoyed Shreveport more. In Shreveport, people actually cared that there was a game going on and there was more of an atmosphere, but it could have been just any old day in Houston because no one in that city really knew or gave a crap that there was a game in town.

Hmm..I couldn't disagree with this more. The Houston game we were playing an actual texas team (TCU) and their fans were all over the place at the game and out on the town the night before. At the last Indy Bowl when we played Miami (OH) I saw maybe 1 Miami fan out in Shreveport and their attendance in the stadium was pathetic. There was definately some local interest in the game, but most of it was just LSU fans complaining that we should've beaten Alabama (I agree) the last time we played there...

Re: Big 12 Bowl Pecking Order to Change?

I agree that on the whole, the city of Houston didn't seem too interested or aware of the game. But there were a lot of great things to do in Houston. The stadium was fantastic, and the weather was great.

Outside of a few casinos, Shreveport was a dump without much to do. A lot of the city was downright scary. And the stadium wasn't all that great either. And the weather in northern Louisiana in late December isn't always that great. I'm pretty sure I remember aTm playing the Independence Bowl in the snow. I think the only thing it had going for it was a matchup with an SEC team, and we only got that once in our 2 trips.

Yea but Houston is so much nicer than Shreveport.

Getting to the game felt like you should seriously consider packing heat in Shreveport, while Houston provided all kinds of options for entertainment leading up to and after the game. I could care less that the gas station attendant cared there was a football game coming up, I want something to do and a city that is worth traveling to for more reasons than the football game.

I hope his wife didn't read this article: "I've made the comment to our governance groups that I wish I was pursued as this hot a commodity when I was in my dating life as I am now in the conference with these bowls," Beebe said.

Re: Big 12 Bowl Pecking Order to Change?

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Big 12 drop the Independence bowl from their rotation. I also wouldn't be shocked if the Big 10 drops the Champs bowl in favor of the Gator or Holiday bowl that the Big 12 ends up in Orlando in the Champs bowl

oh. also. Shoney's Inn in Shreveport is NOT equipped with enough towels to house a 300 member band for any extended period of time.

Re: Big 12 Bowl Pecking Order to Change?

Does the Big 12 have a bowl tie-in with every BCS conference? I know the Big 10 doesn't play the Big East and im pretty sure the SEC doesn't play the PAC-10
