    Overseas jobs

Anybody else looking at overseas jobs...like in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, or places like that? Seems they have some great oppertunities and gas is under .10 a litre. Seems I am starting to go that route if I can't get a position here in the states

They are hiring in Afghanistan to build several facilities - check with Overseas Contigency Operation (OCO) Corps of Engrs and their contractors. Phaedrus can help.

    Re: Overseas jobs

I'm looking at doing my final internship in New Zealand or Australia, does that count? I've been to AU 3 times and NZ once, and seriously debating the idea of staying there permanently if the internship goes well and I enjoy being there for more than 10 days at a time.

Of course all of this is 1 1/2 years away, but it's fun to think about.

And my stepdad, laid off in October, has been seriously looking at jobs in the areas you mentioned as a driver, engineer, mechanic, whatever he can find.

Hopefully you're not going to be looking for a significant female when you're over there... the guy/gal ratios in that neck of the woods are some the most male dominated in the world

Sex ratio - total population(male(s)/female) 2008 country ranks

Sex is out of the question for now....need to survival is first and foremost.

    Re: Overseas jobs

If you have a police background (which you do) I would seriously consider DynCorp's or MPRI's CIVPOL contract jobs. They are sub-contracts with Department of State and are always hiring.

The Qatar jobs tend to be really crappy, since they pre-date 9/11, most of them, and are at the really low dollar rate and are poorly managed to boot.

    I love UAE. Great country.

Go to Dyncorp or MPRI/L3 Com's websites and have fun. The jobs change almost daily and just apply for everything you could remotely qualify for.

BTW, check my location on my "about me" page. My ability to help someone get a job in A-Stan just went down, significantly.
