    Can't sleep...

    I can't sleep and I get an almost depressed feeling when I just lay there attempting to, especially when I need to.. Any ideas for a non medicated or alcohol related way to get to sleep? ( yes, I know getting on CF is not a great start for me)

    Try to clear your mind. Working out sometimes helps. Personally I drink.

    I lay in bed and think of absolutely nothing. Just close my eyes and clear my head. If that doesn't work, then you gotta drink.

    I used to try counting sheep, and that still works from time to time. I think of big fluffy sheep jumping over a fence. The last few times, I have thought of them on a conveyor belt, a la a Simpsons episode that dealt with Bovine University (a slaughterhouse). So, that works from time to time. When all else fails, Tylenol PM is a good friend. Good luck!

    I'm usually just getting off work so its usually not a problem to get to sleep but for me its drink. Otherwise just google some ****. Not being able to sleep just plain sucks. Although you posted this 4 hours ago and would think you have found a way to sleep by now haha.

    I have major problems with this during certain parts of the year when I get too stressed out due to work.
    I haven't found many things that work very well for me yet.
    The one that works the best most of the time is to work out. And not a small workout - I mean push yourself till you feel like puking workout.

    It is frustrating to not be able to sleep. I have already decided that if I get into another funk that I will go the route of meds.

    When I was younger and interned at the Chicago Board of Trade, I had to get up REALLY early to ride the train in to work.... I had to go to bed at like 9:30 pm. I couldn't sleep the first 2 weeks and someone I worked with gave me some printout from online. I thought it was weird at first, so I'll understand if you do too....

    I used self hypnosis. You clear your mind and imagine or self talk (in your head) your body relaxing; starting with your toes and working your way up. If you take it serious and try it, it might be worth it. It worked for me.

    Most of the no sleep has to do with not relaxing, stress, "busy mind" and this helps clear all that stuff and get you to relax leading to sleep.
