Huge Wreck on 30 West of Ames

Coming back from Boone tonight there was a 1 car accident going west from Ames with about a half mile of flashing lights from probably 10 cop cars and several ambulances. I saw on the state patrol website there was at least 1 fatality...anybody have any additional info?

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

Looks like the driver lost their life, but the passenger survived.

What can possibly lead a single car accident to be described as "huge" by anyone not in said vehicle? Inquiring minds want to know.

probably by the number of emergency vehicles he described. Sometimes it is hard to see the vehicles involved due to all the emergency vehicles that show up.

Those curves are not that sharp. Makes me wonder if speed was a factor.

and possibly by the number of people in the vehicle, which would also be hard to know with a large number of emergency vehicles around. whoever called it in probably assumed there were multiple people so they sent out multiple police and ambulances.

That crash in November involving the Westwood wrestlers was only a 2-vehicle accident, but I'd consider it "huge" considering 1 person died and 6 were severely injured. It's not always the number of vehicles that make something a "huge" crash.

Like I originally said, the number of responders on hand...30 was lit up for at least a good half mile Also I teach in the district and there were rumors that there were several students killed when it originally happened...
