    Too many Gnats

I was wondering if anybody has a good way to stop gnats from bugging you. I've tried OFF bug spray and the vanilla extract. The vanilla works better but still I am looking for something better. We can't go outside without the darn things flying all around your head.

I remembered this as a trick from when I played baseball in HS... rub a dryer sheet on your face or as we did the underside of the bill of a cap.

If it's your yard just spray it. Any cheap insect/misquito spray works. I do it once a month and it does wonders. Probably due for it soon because I got bit a little last night while spot spraying weeds.

I wish it was just my yard, golf course, baseball diamonds. Any place with grass is terrible at night.

I got a bug zapper. I know they don't help much, but I get satisfaction out of listening to them fry.

What brand / type of spray are you using?

I don't think zappers help at all, except to attract them to your yard. But you can't beat the fun and and thinking that you are putting a dent in the total population.

It just like those Japanese beetle traps. You can catch billions of those pests, but you're inviting them from miles around.

It doesn't really matter, I've used the cheap brand at Menards to a name brand like Cutter. You'll never get rid of them completely but spraying the lawn with some kind of misquito repellant definitely cuts down on them!

    Re: Too many Gnats

We have the smallest bit of McNess 1046 left at work. That is supposedly the holy grail of gnat repellents. Put a couple dabs on in the morning and you are good all day! But that is no longer available. There is however something called Dettol Antiseptic that has the same active ingredient as McNess.
