    ISU has top 25 coordinators

According to Rivals. We are only one of 11 teams in the country that has both coordinators in the top 25.

Buh, buh, buh - I thought Ferentz was the #1 coach in the nation...

(I tend to agree where they have him ranked)

Thank you Stewo, after all these negative threads.....refreshing

I think Herman will be AWESOME. I cannot wait to see our new "firepower". Plus, he's a certified genius.

Agreed, Dr. Chiro. The list(s) should have an updated list as of Pre-thought, not Post Spring.

Re: ISU has top 25 coordinators

Good to see the respect our coordinators have.

Bold prediction: The defense will make bigger strides this year than the offense will. Over the long term the offense will be our best asset, but I think Burnham's experience is going to leave a mark on the defense. And this has nothing to do with the fact our defense was a cellar dweller.

Nothing against Herman, but I think there will be some kinks to work out with getting the linemen to be more athletic and translating the offense to the Big XII.

I generally believe this as well. The D will exceed expectations this year, but the Offense won't quite be where we all think it should be.

Re: ISU has top 25 coordinators

I think the defense will improve more overall than the defense. If the offense can get better in the red zone, it will be pretty good. Our lack of success in the red zone over the past few years, imo, has everything to do w/play calling.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back up for a second here.

You mean a speed option from the 1 with no time left on the clock wasn't the right call? Jesus. This is breaking news!

That said, I do agree. Wholeheartedly. Oklahoma game in 2007 anyone?

Re: ISU has top 25 coordinators

I disagree. I think Herman is on his way up to head coach and his years at ISU will get him there starting this year.
Burnham didn't impress me when we played them last year. He had a ton of speed and I thought he could have put together a better defense with it. Herman is very impressive young coach and a good get for ISU.

You do know Burnham came from USF, right? Don't know what you were thinking but we certainly did not play one of his teams last year.

I was just going to post this as an example of other instances besides the CU game last year. Then I looked closer at your post. See also: Iowa game this year.

The one short yardage red zone play that worked BEAUTIFULLY when they used it was that boot Arnaud ran at UNLV. Fake hand off, everyone rolled left, he went right. Wide open. Was screaming for them to run it again at the end of regulation, rather than kick the PAT. Wanted them to run it against CU.
