    Clippers win draft lottery

OK, so the Clippers have won the only thing they seem to be able to win. How many times exactly have they won the draft lottery?

    Oh, let's see:

    1) Danny Manning
    2) Michael Olowakandi

    More?

40 first-round picks in 39 years, and 1/3 of them in the top five? What a franchise

Everyone say goodbye to Blake Griffin, because 5 years from now you won't remember who he was.

There only chance for success is to get out of LA and new management. But, that isn't going to happen. I think they like being known as the doormat of the NBA.

Donald Sterling has found he can screw around and not spend any money and the NBA revenue sharing program will keep his pockets lined.

    Re: Cilppers win draft lottery

If I remember correctly, when the draft was approaching, callers would routinely call in to sports talk radio and remind Elgin Baylor when the draft was going to be, what with him being the GM and all. It was hilarious, and became a running joke for years in LA, yes, exactly like the Clippers!

Griffin may have hope. If there's one franchise that would pass on Griffin with the #1 pick to reach for some unknown European player, it's the Clippers.

At least this way they wont be taking a guard that will take playing time away from Mike Taylor. But will Blake Griffin turn into Marcus Fizer?!?

Not a chance. Griffin is more athletic, taller, and a better rebounder. He is on a whole other level from Fizer

    Re: Clippers win draft lottery

Manning was such a phenomenal talent in college, they had no choice but to take him. He career was derailed by injuries, otherwise he was a likely hall-of-famer. Still, he made a couple all-star games and averaged 14ppg over 15 seasons, which definitely isn't terrible. Also in that '88 draft, there aren't any guys that had that great of a career that make the Manning selection egregious.

Olawakandi, on the other hand, was in a draft that was so LOADED that Dirk and Paul Pierce went at 9 and 10, and he is basically out of basketball already. Now that's more of a bust, because they passed on a bunch of other good players to get the guy.
