I've had pretty good luck with the basic ones. If you keep a clean scalp it helps.

Haven't paid for a haircut since I got some Wahl clippers/trimmers back in the '90s.

I agree with the Wahl suggestion. I shave my head twice a week, and no problems at all.

    Re: Hair Cutting

The hub used to shave his head in college for football/track and I think he had a Sunbeam - I'd consider it medium quality. He used it about twice a month for 7 years or so. I think the guards help, too, with avoiding razor burn.

ETA: nope, it was an Oster, I just checked. Still works.

No. You can get their basic clipper and trimmer with several different guide lengths for about $35.

I would also recommend the Wahl. You might pay quite a bit up front, but it'll more than pay for itself inside a year.

I get my hair cut really short - 1 up the sides and back, 2 up top - and I'm considering going out and getting another trimmer, because I can cut it that short myself.

    Re: Hair Cutting

I go through about 1 wahl a year. I use it twice a week to trim my hair down to the shortest length possible and then use a mach three to shave it clean. There is a difference between the $20 Wahl and the $34.99 Wahl. Definitely go with the $34.99 kit. I has a better guide and thus is less likely to cut/razor burn you.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

A good way to get rid of the razor burn on the neck is to flip the clippers over, and go down the neck as opposed to up the neck.

It also helps to get rid of the *fuzz* that can build up.
