The World-Herald always does a fine job of covering ISU Athletics. I didn't realize Pollard's new house was close to Mac's. JP's comments about not wanting to make a change solidify to me just how difficult that transistion was and how much Dan & JP didn't want it to happen.

Interesting take on Pollard and his philosophy. I could tell during Mac's resignation presser that Pollard was pretty upset about what had transpired. Never knew about their houses though... I think most of us agree that JP made the right move hiring Chizik. Things are definitely looking up for ISU athletics...

Well of course Dan didn't want it to happen. The next hardest thing would be firing someone who works as hard as Dan did.

Write the OWH and let them know you appreciate the piece. They generally do it for the SWI folks, but with the internet papers are slowly becoming more digital and reaching out to greater audiences. Let them know that we are paying attention in central Iowa and you will see more catered to your interest. Especially in a sports crazed paper like the OWH.
The ESPN article about Medders was written by a KCstar reporter. I took the time to write the KCstar and they promptly replied.

"Thank you for all you do to cover Iowa State athletics in your paper.
Your articles are enjoyable and always shed a positive light on the
university and their athletes. I would prefer to read your paper over
    the local Des Moines Register.

    Regards,
    X"

    "Dear X,

Thanks very much for taking the time to write. I'm really glad you enjoy
the coverage. I'm copying colleges editor Derek Samson here so that he can
share your nice words with his staff. Have a good weekend.

    Best wishes,

It really is sad that we get better Big 12 and ISU coverage in other papers around the midwest.

I wish every Iowa State fan in Des Moines would cancel their subscription to the DMR.

Barfknecht is a good writer and covers the big 12 quite thoroughly. I recall when living in NE that he would pi$$ a lot of nebraska fans of because he wasn't a homer and didn't just blindly write what those myopians in nebraska wanted to hear.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.
