    Wolves likely to keep Hoiberg

Sources: Wolves eyeing Penn as GM
He's a little bit of that article.

Either way, Penn's apparent willingness to keep McHale as coach and team with Wolves assistant general manager Fred Hoiberg on personnel matters -- combined with Penn's solid reputation after working for Jerry West in Memphis and helping the Trail Blazers rise to prominence in the Western Conference -- has established him as the heavy favorite to replace McHale as Minnesota's lead decision-maker on personnel matters.

Hope he stay with the Wolves. I'd like to see him get a shot at being the GM thou

As a Wolves fan, I was kind of hoping they would clean house. They are terribly run. I love Fred as a Cyclone legend, but what exactly has he done well as a Timberwolves exec? What?
It sounds like several potential GM candidates balked at not being able to choose their own front office staff, and turned Taylor down.

Not only get their front office staff but have to keep McHale as coach if he wants to return.

Where are they keeping him, can't we just throw them a piece of meat?

Lets hope Geoffrey sees this as an opportunity to clean house in the Iowa State Athletic Department and hire Fred as the new Athletic Director of the Iowa State Cyclones!

Looks like The Mayor wont be Wolves GM

Too bad, I would like to see Fred as GM one day.

The Timberwolves are reportedly very close to offering the GM job to Tom Penn, currently with the Blazers.
The Pacers' David Kahn sounded like the early front-runner, but it now sounds like the job is going to go to Penn, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. In addition, the new GM will be required to give Kevin McHale the choice of staying in the coaching role next season or walking away. Current Wolves' brass Fred Hoiberg and Jim Stack are likely the other final candidates.

    They should've gone with Simmons

I hope Fred got a fair shake on his interview.

Re: Wolves likely to keep Hoiberg

Penn has withdrawn his name after being promoted. Sounds like its the Pacers Kahn or currents Wolves Fred Hoiberg or Jim Stack
